Send It In’s PJ Glasser Warns of Georgia Hangover for Notre Dame Ahead of CFP Clash

Notre Dame Faces Tough Test Against Penn State After Monumental Win Over Georgia

Hangovers are practically a tradition this time of year. From holiday celebrations to New Year’s toasts, chances are most of you reading this have experienced one in the past few weeks.

But there’s another kind of hangover that one particular group might be feeling later this week.

“The Georgia hangover is very much real,” PJ Glasser, host of Send It In, shared.

During the regular season, Georgia handed losses to both Alabama and Ole Miss. In the games immediately following their matchups against the Bulldogs, both the Tide and the Rebels stumbled, each suffering a loss. Alabama lost to Vanderbilt and Ole Miss lost to Florida.

“Georgia we know is the premiere program right now in college football and obviously these kids are 18, 19, 20 years old,” Glasser said. “When you beat the top team, when you beat the premiere program - especially for a team like Bama that was Kalen DeBoer’s first big win in Tuscaloosa, that was Lane Kiffin’s signature win – both those team’s had letdown games in their following games.”

Glasser is now concerned about Notre Dame and head coach Marcus Freeman coming off a massive win of their own against the Bulldogs.
“Notre Dame arguably just won probably their biggest game in the last 30 years in the Sugar Bowl against Georiga, so now they have to get ready for a really good Penn State team that does a lot of similar things to what they do.”
Penn State is no pushover. Defensively, they’re a brick wall, recently holding Boise State’s star RB Ashton Jeanty to his lowest output of the season. Offensively, their ground game is dominant, powered by Nicholas Singleton and Kaytron Allen.

In the College Football Playoff so far, the Nittany Lions have shown they can start fast, leading SMU 21-0 at halftime and Boise State 17-7 at the break. Glasser thinks Notre Dame could face a similar script.

“We’re going to find out a lot about Marcus Freeman as a head coach,” Glasser said. “How does he get his team to lock back in, focus back in, settle in and get ready for Penn State after having that huge win against Georiga.
On top of that, Notre Dame is battling injuries. Key players like Riley Mills are out, and Jeremiyah Love is nursing a knee issue.

Still, our BetQL model sees things differently. While it agrees with some of Glasser’s points, it ultimately backs the Irish to win and secure a spot in the National Title game. The model rates Notre Dame -1 as a two-star play, with a projected line of -3, and gives the Irish moneyline a three-star rating.
