ATS Record: New Mexico State 7-5, Bowling Green 4-7-1
O/U Record: New Mexico State 6-6, Bowling Green 7-4-1
Head coach Jerry Kill was able to rally New Mexico State after a 0-4 start and get the Aggies to their first bowl game since 2017. The Aggies won five of their last six games, including a surprise blowout of Liberty. Likewise, Bowling Green is in its first bowl game since it won the MAC in 2015. Oddly enough, the Falcons are favored for just the fourth time this season. The Falcons are 2-1 SU but 0-3 ATS when favored this year. However, they were a respectable 3-4 SU against bowl-eligible teams in 2022.

ATS Record: Georgia Southern 7-5, Buffalo 6-5-1
O/U Record: Georgia Southern 6-6, Buffalo 7-5
Despite a three-game losing streak late in the season, the Bulls won their season finale, 23-22, over Akron to secure their fourth bowl game in the last five years. The problem is Buffalo has lost four straight ATS. However, the Bulls will be underdogs against Georgia Southern and are 3-1-1 ATS as an underdog this year. As for the Eagles, Clay Helton has them in a bowl game for the fourth time in the last five years. Georgia Southern failed to reach a bowl last year, but an early upset over Nebraska helped the Eagles get to 6-6 this year. Much like Buffalo, the Eagles endured a three-game losing streak late but won their season finale. Oddly enough, this will be the second time they’re favored against an FBS opponent this year. In the only other game, Georgia Southern won and covered against Ball State, another MAC opponent.

ATS Record: Utah State 4-8, Memphis 6-6
O/U Record: Utah State 5-7, Memphis 8-4
Memphis is favored in this game after going 6-1 SU and 4-3 ATS as a favorite in 2022. The Tigers had to endure a four-game losing streak during the middle of the season, losing three of those games by seven points or fewer. In fact, those four losses came by just 20 total points, so the Tigers are probably a little better than most 6-6 teams. They did win two of their last three games, beating the spread in all three of those games.
As for Utah State, a bowl game looked unlikely after a 1-4 start that included a loss to Weber State. But with five wins in their last seven games, the Aggies are in a bowl game. However, they were just 2-4 ATS as underdogs this season and only have two wins over bowl teams.

ATS Record: East Carolina 7-5, Coastal Carolina 4-7-1
O/U Record: East Carolina 6-6, Coastal Carolina 7-5
It’s about time these two Carolina schools met, as the campuses are separated by a little over 200 miles. Coastal Carolina’s 9-3 record might be a little deceiving, as the Chanticleers are coming off two lopsided losses to end the season, including a 45-26 defeat in the Sun Belt Championship Game. Even with quarterback Grayson McCall returning from injury, CCU got blown out. They also lost coach Jamey Chadwell to Liberty at the end of the season. As for East Carolina, it was just 7-5, although three of those losses came by three points or fewer. To be fair, three of the Pirates' wins came by three points or fewer, too, so they grew accustomed to playing close games this season.

ATS Record: Oklahoma State 6-6, Wisconsin 5-7
O/U Record: Oklahoma State 6-6, Wisconsin 7-5
Both of these programs will surely consider this a down season by their standards, although a win in a bowl game will surely help. Mike Gundy’s Cowboys definitely need a win after losing four of their last five games. Oklahoma State does have three wins over bowl teams, although they all came during the early part of the season. Meanwhile, Wisconsin’s season included a coaching change with Jim Leonhard going 4-3 as the interim coach. However, the former Wisconsin player will leave the program after the bowl game after seven seasons with the Badgers as a coach. Oddly enough, both teams’ starting quarterbacks have decided to enter the transfer portal, adding a unique wrinkle to this game.

ATS Record: UCF 7-6, Duke 9-3
O/U Record: UCF 6-7, Duke 6-6
The Blue Devils were surely one of the biggest surprises nationally under first-year head coach Mike Elko. However, there might be a little fool’s gold in their 8-4 record because Duke’s only win against a bowl team came in the regular-season finale against a Wake Forest team that struggled down the stretch. Nevertheless, they opened as a slight favorite over UCF, which lost three in a row ATS to end the season, including a loss in the AAC Championship Game. The Knights also struggled to beat in-state rival South Florida, escaping with a 46-39 win despite being a 20-point favorite. However, UCF did go 4-3 SU this season against teams playing in a bowl game.

ATS Record: Kansas 7-4-1, Arkansas 6-6
O/U Record: Kansas 8-4, Arkansas 9-3
Lance Leipold should be in the running for coach of the year honors after getting the Jayhawks to a bowl game for the first time since 2008. Oddly enough, Kansas is 5-1 in bowl games since 1992. The only flaw is the Jayhawks don’t get to bowl games that often. That being said, the Jayhawks also lost six of their last seven games, going just 2-4-1 ATS during that stretch. Oddly enough, their loss to College Football Playoff participant TCU was the only loss during that stretch that came by fewer than 10 points. Of course, the Razorbacks also had some problems late in the season, losing three of their last four games, although all three losses came by three points or fewer. Plus, Arkansas scored four wins over bowl-eligible teams this year. But while the Razorbacks are slight favorites in this game, they’ve lost the last two games in which they were favored.
ATS Record: North Carolina 5-7-1, Oregon 8-4
O/U Record: North Carolina 6-7, Oregon 8-4
Two losses in their last three games might have cost the Ducks a chance to win the Pac-12 and potentially reach the College Football Playoff. That could make them a candidate to have a letdown in their bowl game. Before that, the Ducks were cruising and actually went 8-2 ATS when favored this season. Similarly, the Tar Heels fell apart down the stretch, losing their last two regular-season games and then getting blown out by Clemson in the ACC Championship Game. For what it’s worth, UNC was 3-1 SU as an underdog this year. But those wins came against Appalachian State, Miami and Wake Forest, so facing Oregon will be a big step up compared to the ACC Coastal Division.
ATS Record: Ole Miss 4-7-1, Texas Tech 7-5
O/U Record: Ole Miss 6-6, Texas Tech 8-4
For the first time in nearly a decade, the Red Raiders are bowling in consecutive seasons, so this is a big deal for the Texas Tech program. They beat an SEC team in their bowl game last year and should be excited to face another SEC foe. Texas Tech is heading to the Texas Bowl on a three-game winning streak. They were 3-4 SU and 4-3 ATS as an underdog this season, so they won’t be bothered by the Rebels being favored in this game.
Meanwhile, Ole Miss enters bowl season on a three-game losing streak, as Lane Kiffin’s team is 1-4 SU and 1-3-1 ATS in its last five games. To be fair, those losses came against good teams, although the Rebels only had two wins over bowl-eligible teams this season.
