ATS Record: Penn State 3-2, Michigan 3-3
O/U Record: Penn State 3-2, Michigan 0-5-1
This game could end up deciding the Big Ten East Division and perhaps have big ramifications in the College Football Playoff race. The Michigan defense has been unreal this year, which is why the Wolverines have yet to hit the over in six games. Penn State, meanwhile, hasn’t scored enough points to cover in two straight games despite allowing 14 points or less in four straight. The good news for the Nittany Lions is they are 16-4 ATS under James Franklin after winning but failing to cover. Also, while Michigan won in Happy Valley last year, the Nittany Lions have won three of the last five games in this series, including a trip to Ann Arbor in 2020.

ATS Record: Auburn 1-5, Ole Miss 3-3
O/U Record: Auburn 3-3, Ole Miss 2-4
The Tigers had started to move things in the right direction before getting blown out by Georgia last week. They now have to face another top-10 team that can light up the scoreboard. The Rebels have scored at least 42 points in three of their six games this year, including last week’s 52-28 win over Vanderbilt. But while the Rebels are averaging 490 yards per game, head coach Bryan Harsin is 15-5 ATS in his career against teams that average at least 450 yards per game. The Tigers have also won the last six games in this rivalry, as well as their last four trips to Oxford.

ATS Record: Kansas 5-0-1, Oklahoma 2-4
O/U Record: Kansas 3-3, Oklahoma 2-3-1
Everything about this game feels backward. Somehow, it’s Kansas that’s the ranked team while Oklahoma has suffered three consecutive losses. Of course, the Sooners are still favored in this game despite being outscored 104-24 over their last two games. To be fair, Kansas is also coming off a loss. But the Jayhawks are 3-1 SU this year as an underdog. The only caveat is that Oklahoma has won 17 straight games against the Jayhawks, who haven’t beaten the Sooners since 1997.

ATS Record: Iowa State 2-3-1, Texas 5-1
O/U Record: Iowa State 2-4, Texas 2-4
It doesn’t get much better for Texas than back-to-back conference wins by a combined score of 87-20. They also have quarterback Quinn Ewers back in the fold. On the other side, Iowa State is 0-3 in conference play and scored just 20 total points in their last two games. In fact, the Cyclones have scored 11 points or less in three of their six games this year. The good news is that this is the part of the season when the Cyclones usually hit their stride, going 19-8 ATS under Matt Campbell between Weeks 5-9. They are also 13-4 ATS during Campbell’s tenure when coming off a conference loss of seven points or less. The Cyclones have also beaten Texas in three straight seasons.

ATS Record: Minnesota 4-1, Illinois 4-2
O/U Record: Minnesota 2-3, Illinois 2-4
A surprising 5-1 start has put Illinois into the Top 25 and perhaps made them the favorite in the Big Ten West. However, the Golden Gophers are also a contender in that division despite losing to Purdue last time out. These two teams have split their last four meetings with the road team winning each of the last two years. The Fighting Illini won last year’s meeting, 14-6, and there could be a similar score on Saturday with the Illinois defense giving up 10 points or fewer in five of the team’s six games this year.

ATS Record: N.C. State 2-4, Syracuse 4-1
O/U Record: N.C. State 3-3, Syracuse 2-3
This is a surprising top-20 matchup in the ACC with Syracuse off to a 5-0 start, including three wins over power-conference opponents. Meanwhile, the Wolfpack are 5-0 after surviving a close game with Florida State last week. However, quarterback Devin Leary left that game with an injury, so his status is a little unclear. The good news is that N.C. State’s defense is allowing just 15.7 points per game, but Syracuse is 8-0 ATS under Dino Babers when facing a team that allows 17 points per game or less. Of course, the Wolfpack has won seven of the last eight meetings between these teams, including three of four trips to Syracuse.

ATS Record: Alabama 4-2, Tennessee 4-1
O/U Record: Alabama 2-4, Tennessee 3-2
It’s the third Saturday in October, which means it’s time for the Crimson Tide and the Volunteers to cross paths. This will be the second time this century and the first time since 2016 that both teams are ranked in the top 10 for this rivalry game. Of course, Tennessee hasn’t beaten the Tide since 2006, giving Alabama a 15-game winning streak against the Vols. But this Tennessee team looks different after already beating Florida and LSU this year. It certainly doesn’t help Alabama that Bryce Young missed last week’s close call against Texas A&M with a shoulder injury, leaving his status for this week in question.
ATS Record: Oklahoma State 3-2, TCU 4-0-1
O/U Record: Oklahoma State 4-1, TCU 3-2
Both of these teams are unbeaten in Big 12 play, so this game could have huge ramifications in the Big 12 title race, as well as national importance if Oklahoma State can stay undefeated. Neither team has shown much defensive prowess this year, which is why both have hit the over in three straight games and combined to go 7-3 O/U. It’s also worth noting that the home team has won the last four games in this series with three of the four games being decided by a touchdown or less.
ATS Record: James Madison 5-0, Georgia Southern 4-2
O/U Record: James Madison 4-1, Georgia Southern 3-3
Welcome to the Top 25, James Madison. The Dukes are in their first year at the FBS level and off to a 5-0 start. They’ve already won two road games this year, beating Appalachian State as an underdog and covering 11.5 points against Arkansas State. Meanwhile, the Eagles have lost three of their last four games despite a promising upset over Nebraska early in the season.
ATS Record: LSU 3-3, Florida 3-3
O/U Record: LSU 1-5, Florida 3-3
This is one of the great rivalry games in the SEC with the Tigers winning three in a row and nine of their last 12 head-to-head battles with Florida. However, LSU is coming off a brutal, 40-13 home loss to Tennessee, although the Bayou Bengals did beat Auburn on the road two weeks ago. Meanwhile, the Gators are 0-3 ATS as home favorites against FBS teams this year, losing to Kentucky and failing to cover in wins over South Florida and Missouri.
ATS Record: Clemson 3-3, Florida State 4-2
O/U Record: Clemson 3-3, Florida State 2-4
For a while, this was the marquee rivalry in the ACC, although Clemson has now won the last six meetings, including the last two times the Tigers visited Tallahassee. All but one of those six wins have been decided by at least 10 points. Also, after a promising start to the season, the Seminoles have lost back-to-back games against two of the better teams in the ACC, including a home loss to Wake Forest. As for the Tigers, they are getting back to winning with defense, allowing 20 points or less in all but one of their games this season while scoring at least 30 points in all six games.
ATS Record: Mississippi State 4-1-1, Kentucky 4-2
O/U Record: Mississippi State 4-2, Kentucky 1-5
The Wildcats are trying to avoid a three-game losing streak, suffering an upset loss last week without quarterback Will Levis. The good news is the Cats still have a good defense, which is why they are 1-5 O/U this year. However, Mike Leach has his air-raid offense working, as the Bulldogs have scored at least 40 points in three straight games. They just have to be careful and not look ahead toward next week’s game with Alabama. It’s also worth noting that these rivals meet every year with the home team winning each of the last seven games.
ATS Record: USC 4-2, Utah 4-2
O/U Record: USC 3-3, Utah 4-2
Utah’s Pac-12 hopes could hinge on winning this game after the Utes lost to UCLA last week. The Trojans, meanwhile, are halfway to a perfect regular season under Lincoln Riley. It also looks like smooth sailing for them until the second half of November if they can survive a trip to Salt Lake City. Utah has covered all three home games this year and is 18-6 ATS under Kyle Whittingham when coming off a game in which at least 70 points were scored, which was the case in last week’s 42-34 loss. The Trojans won in Salt Lake City two years ago, although that’s USC’s only win at Utah since 2012 when Lane Kiffin was the head coach. These teams have split their last eight meetings, including a 42-26 Utah win last season.
