ATS Record: Oklahoma 1-1, Nebraska 0-3
O/U Record: Oklahoma 0-1-1, Nebraska 2-1
Facing their old Big 12 rivals couldn’t come at a worse time for Nebraska. The Cornhuskers just lost at home to Georgia Southern despite being favored by 23.5 points. Naturally, that was the last straw for Scott Frost, who was promptly fired. It’s been the Nebraska defense that’s been the problem, as the Cornhuskers are averaging 36 points per game. Of course, the Oklahoma defense has allowed just 16 points over two games, albeit in wins over UTEP and Kent State.

ATS Record: Cal 1-1, Notre Dame 1-1
O/U Record: Cal 1-1, Notre Dame 0-2
Few could have predicted that Notre Dame would lose to Marshall last week, although that won’t stop the Fighting Irish from being double-digit favorites again this week. Notre Dame’s sputtering offense has scored just 31 points over two games, and things may not get easier with quarterback Tyler Buchner leaving late in the Marshall game with a shoulder injury. Meanwhile, the Cal defense has surrendered just 27 points this year in games against UC-Davis and UNLV. Also, Cal coach Justin Wilcox is 10-3 SU in non-conference games and 7-0 ATS when the Golden Bears are between a 7.5-point and a 14-point underdog.

ATS Record: BYU 2-0, Oregon 1-1
O/U Record: BYU 1-1, Oregon 1-1
The Cougars just took down Baylor last week, but now they have to hit the road as slight underdogs against Oregon. We still don’t know much about the Ducks, who were roughed up by Georgia in the season opener and blew out an FCS opponent last week. But we do know the Cougars are 10-3 ATS as a road underdog under Kalani Sitake.

ATS Record: Ole Miss 1-1, Georgia Tech 0-2
O/U Record: Ole Miss 1-1, Georgia Tech 0-2
Georgia Tech managed to hang around for a little while against Clemson in the season opener before getting blown out 41-10. The Yellow Jackets could face similar problems this week against Ole Miss. The Rebels have a lot of transfers on offense, but they were clicking in last week’s 59-3 win over an FCS opponent. As the coach of Ole Miss, Lane Kiffin is 17-8 SU and 10-1 SU when the Rebels are favored.

ATS Record: Penn State 2-0, Auburn 0-2
O/U Record: Penn State 2-0, Auburn 1-1
Penn State beat the Tigers, 28-20, in Happy Valley last season, but the Nittany Lions now have to make the return trip to Auburn. Perhaps being an underdog will be helpful for the Tigers, as they’ve failed to cover the spread as home favorites in their first two games. As for Penn State, they blasted Ohio, 46-10, last week to cover 28 points. Under James Franklin, the Nittany Lions are 14-4 ATS after going at least 42 points in their previous game. Of course, since the turn of the century, Penn State is just 3-7 SU against SEC opponents.

ATS Record: Liberty 1-1, Wake Forest 2-0
O/U Record: Liberty 1-1, Wake Forest 1-1
The Demon Deacons have picked up where they left off last year, winning and covering in their first two games. Dave Clawson’s team even won by 20 points on the road against Vanderbilt last week. During Clawson’s tenure, the Demon Deacons are 15-7 SU during the first month of the season. They are also 14-7 SU when coming off a win of 17 points or more. However, the Flames won as underdogs last week, so they shouldn’t have a problem being in that position again this week.

ATS Record: Texas Tech 1-1, NC State 1-1
O/U Record: Texas Tech 2-0, NC State 1-1
N.C. State had big expectations coming into the season, although they were lucky to escape with a 21-20 win in their season opener against East Carolina despite being favored by 12.5 points. The Red Raiders also failed to cover in one of their first two games, although that’s because they were 4-point favorites in last week’s 33-30 win over Houston. It’s worth noting that NC State is 1-4 in the Wolfpack’s last five non-conference games against power-conference opponents. That includes a 2019 loss to West Virginia the last time they played a Big 12 team.
ATS Record: Michigan State 2-0, Washington 2-0
O/U Record: Michigan State 0-2, Washington 2-0
Kalen DeBoer is off to a good start in his first two games at Washington, as the Huskies have covered both games against inferior opponents. Of course, the Spartans have done the same thing, doing so with a strong defense, allowing just 13 total points against a couple of MAC opponents. However, MSU quarterback Payton Thorne has already thrown three interceptions this year against subpar competition while also failing to throw a touchdown last week in a 52-0 win over Akron. Meanwhile, Indiana transfer Michael Penix Jr. is settling in nicely with the Huskies. He also led Indiana to a win over Michigan State two years ago, throwing for 320 yards in that game.
ATS Record: Pitt 0-2, Western Michigan 1-1
O/U Record: Pitt 1-1, Western Michigan 1-1
The Panthers will try to bounce back from last week’s home loss with a rare trip to a MAC school. Of course, Pitt is hoping to avenge a 44-41 loss to Tim Lester and the Broncos last season, so Western Michigan should have plenty of confidence in this game despite a 22-point loss to Michigan State in their season opener. The good news for Pitt is they are 13-3 ATS as a road favorite under Pat Narduzzi.
ATS Record: UTSA 2-0, Texas 2-0
O/U Record: UTSA 2-0, Texas 0-2
The Longhorns probably should have beaten Alabama last week and would have if they could have wrapped up Bryce Young on a corner blitz late in the game. But now they have to move past the close loss, which won’t be easy with starting quarterback Quinn Ewers expected to miss at least a month with an injury. It could be up to the Texas defense to step up again after holding Alabama to 20 points last week. Frank Harris and the UTSA offense have put up at least 35 points in each of the team’s first two games, including a road win against Army last week, so the Roadrunners won’t be easy to put away. Keep in mind the Roadrunners went to overtime with Army last week, and that was after playing three overtimes against Houston in their season opener.
ATS Record: Miami 1-1, Texas A&M 0-2
O/U Record: Miami 1-1, Texas A&M 0-2
Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher should be familiar with Miami from his days at Florida State. While coaching FSU, Fisher was 7-1 against the Hurricanes. However, he’s never had to bounce back from a loss against Appalachian State, which is what happened to the Aggies last week. Miami, meanwhile, has allowed just 20 points over two games, although against subpar competition. That could point to a low-scoring game with both of A&M’s games staying under the point total and the Aggies struggling offensively with just 45 total points in two games.
ATS Record: Fresno State 0-2, USC 2-0
O/U Record: Fresno State 1-1, USC 2-0
The Lincoln Riley era has been a glowing success through two games, as the Trojans have won and covered against both Rice and Stanford to open the season. The USC offense is surely clicking with the Trojans scoring 107 points in two games. Riley is 13-2 SU in his coaching career after his team scores at least 37 points in consecutive games. On the other side, Fresno State led Oregon State for long stretches last week, only to give up a touchdown on the last play of the game, losing 35-32 and costing them a chance to beat a Pac-12 team.
