$ Premium: This Bearcats Trend Could Help Cougars Pounce Friday

Cincinnati Isn't The Same Team That Made The CFP A Few Years Ago

Premium Betting Angles: Cincinnati vs. BYU

It's been a few seasons since QB Desmond Ridder and the Cincinnati Bearcats became the first non-Power 5 school to make the CFP, and things have changed quite a bit since then. Ridder is conducting the Atlanta Falcons offense now, and his alma mater has not been the same since his departure.

In Week 5, BYU welcomes Cincinnati into LaVell Edwards Stadium, where the home team is a 2.5-point favorite. With live odds evolving (as you can see below), we've found a betting angle that heavily favors one team and we're only giving it out only to our paid subscribers. Scroll down to see what it is!

Bearcats Struggle To Contain Efficient Passing Attacks

Since the end of the "Golden Era" of Bearcats football two years ago, the program has simply not had the same success they once did. While Cincy is 2-2 to start the year, and also 2-2 ATS, they have failed to cover the spread in two straight games and even lost outright as a -14 favorite to Miami (OH). Ouch, that hurts, but this trend about them won't help quell their pain against BYU this Friday in primetime.

Cincinnati is a pitiful 0-6 ATS vs. good passing teams with a completion percentage of 58% or better over the last two years. QB Kedon Slovis and the Cougars have had lots of success through the air at this point, and he has completed 60.3% of his passes to start the year. That's even better at home, where he has completed 64.6%.

Take The Cougars To Cover

BYU -2.5 (-110, BetMGM)

My biggest concern here is that BYU is just 1-3 ATS to start the year, so you have to be careful with this one. I'd monitor the line as the week goes, but with this trend, the early lean has to go to the Cougars at home coming off their loss to Kansas.
