Pacers +175 (PointsBet) at Knicks
NCAAB: Creighton +130 (DraftKings) at Xavier
We have a decent slate of games today in college basketball, and this is one of the games that has an extremely curious line. No. 12-ranked Xavier (13-3) is just a -2.5 home favorite against Creighton (9-7). Can someone tell me what's going on here? That makes zero sense, and those are the exact lines you look for when taking an underdog. After starting the season 4-3, Xavier has won nine straight games, including five straight conference games, while the Bluejays are just 3-2 in conference play.
A whopping 81% of the money is on Xavier, and yet the line has moved from 3.5 down to 2.5. That means there is some serious respected money coming in on Creighton here. I fully expect this to be a very close game, and you can take the points if you want to be safer. However, we are picking underdogs here, and I think Creighton has a great chance to win this game outright. It should be more of a pick 'em-type of game, and we are getting plus-money with the Bluejays.
NHL: Predators +170 (DraftKings) at Maple Leafs
Let's head to the ice for our last pick of the night. I'll be honest, this is an awful NHL slate, especially for underdogs. However, this matchup is the one that I think is our best chance to grab an outright win. Nashville has been hot recently, winning four of the last five games. Toronto is in a bit of a cold stretch, even if it is the better team here for sure. One thing that caught my eye when looking at the betting splits for this game is that the line hasn't moved at all since it opened. Every other game tonight has a line that has moved, yet this one has stayed the exact same, despite 70% of the money coming in on the Maple Leafs.
Why haven't they made Toronto a larger favorite with all that money coming in on that side? Why hasn't the line moved like the rest of the games have? That tells me that someone respected might be on the Predators.
