Kate Constable: Xavier-Marquette o161

This is a matchup between the two best offenses in the Big East. Marquette ranks first in offensive efficiency, effective field-goal percentage and offensive turnover percentage, while Xavier comes in second in each category. The Golden Eagles also have the best 2-point shooting percentage in the nation, while the Musketeers have the best 3-point shooting percentage, according to KenPom. Plus, both teams are in the top three in pace in the Big East. Xavier will be without Zach Freemantle tonight, and while they’ll miss his scoring production, replacement Jerome Hunter is tough to guard in the paint. Pair him with Jack Nunge and those two could be a big problem for a Marquette frontcourt that struggled to contain UConn’s big men in a loss to the Huskies last week. I expect lots of points tonight, so take the over.
