Xavier at Providence Prediction

My pick: Xavier-Providence o153.5

This total has come down slightly from where it opened at 155. The No. 2 seed in the Big East tournament is on the line tonight, so I could see the books anticipating a little bit more defense in this game. That said, these are two top-20 offenses. Xavier is the best 3-point shooting team in the conference and Providence is the second best. The Musketeers are also terrible at defending the 3, ranking 290th in 3-point percentage allowed. That should allow the Friars to get whatever they want from deep tonight, especially on their home floor.

Also, the way the Big East is set up, every team plays one another twice. And with the exception of its matchup with St. John’s, every second meeting for Providence has been higher-scoring than the first. The first meeting between Xavier and Providence went into overtime and finished with a total of 168. I don’t think we’re going to get higher than that this game, but regulation ended at 152 and I would expect tonight’s game to finish around 158, so grab the over at FanDuel (-104), along with a great welcome offer below!

Auburn at Alabama Prediction

My pick: Alabama 1H -5.5

These two teams played just a few weeks ago and Alabama won by eight at Auburn. The Tigers may have been able to keep things close on their home floor, but that's going to be a different story tonight on the road. The Tide didn't have their best game in that last matchup. Brandon Miller finished with 13 points but missed all seven of his 3-point attempts. As a team, Alabama also gave up 16 offensive rebounds and only shot 56% from the free-throw line. Not only did the Tide leave 10 potential points at the line, but they allowed Auburn 22 points at the charity stripe. The Tigers offense isn't good enough to keep up with the Tide, but they were able to use free throws to even things out a bit. If Bama can take that away tonight, I like them to cover.

That said, Alabama can secure the SEC regular-season title with a win tonight, which is why I expect it to come out firing from the jump. Take the Tide in the first half at -5.5.

DePaul at UConn Prediction

UConn beat DePaul by 14 at the end of January and in that game the Huskies shot 50.9% from the field and 88% from the free-throw line, but were ice-cold from deep, going 4-16. DePaul shot nearly 45% from the field and 3-point range, but that didn't matter a whole lot because it got dominated on the boards. UConn grabbed 13 more rebounds and I anticipate the Huskies having the same success on the boards again tonight. They are the best offensive rebounding team in the Big East, while DePaul is the worst in the conference at keeping teams off the glass. I could see UConn covering the spread, but it's such a large number that I'm going to play the Huskies team total over 83.5 instead. Depaul has given up at least 81 points in four of its last five games and UConn has scored at least 87 in three of its last five. This one should be all Huskies tonight!

My Pick: UConn team total o83.5
