Rutgers at Indiana Prediction

Rutgers is ranked in the top 25 because of its defense, which is the second-best in all of college basketball and the best in the Big Ten, according to KenPom. In the last two games, the Scarlet Knights held Michigan State and Minnesota each to just 55 points apiece and only allowed Penn State to put up 45 on them at the end of January. Indiana is coming off an emotional win, knocking off No. 1-ranked Purdue on Saturday and we all saw how well that worked for Duke last night being in a similar situation after beating rival UNC. After a strong first half against the Boilermakers, the Hoosiers' shooting cooled off quite a bit in the second half and I worry that might carry over to tonight’s game, especially against Rutgers’ defense. Take the under.

Arkansas at Kentucky Prediction

Kentucky has rounded into form after its loss to South Carolina and has now rattled off six wins in its last seven games. Tonight the Wildcats are hosting an Arkansas team that I think can give them a little trouble. The Razorbacks have the advantage inside with Makhi and Makhel Mitchell, and Jalen Graham’s ability to finish around the rim. As good as Oscar Tshiebwe is on the offensive end, he struggles when it comes to near-proximity defense. Three of Arkansas' four most recent wins have all come against bottom-tier teams in the conference, so they’re going to be hungry for a statement win, and beating Kentucky on the road would be exactly that.

My Pick: Arkansas +5.5 or +200 ML

North Carolina at Wake Forest Prediction

North Carolina is coming off a tough loss to Duke on Saturday. They're now back on the road for another in-state matchup against Wake Forest. The Tar Heels are getting desperate after dropping two straight games and need a win if they want to stay in the hunt for a spot in the NCAA tournament. While Wake Forest has the better offense, UNC owns the better defense. It's the best defensive-rebounding team in the conference and rarely allows opponents to get to the free-throw line. On the flip side, the Tar Heels do a great job of getting themselves to the charity stripe. In a game that's expected to be extremely close, rebounding and free throws are often the difference makers, which is why I'll take UNC on the road tonight.
