Virginia and Miami meet in our only top-25 matchup of the day. While both teams come into this game with only one loss, I’m going to lay the points with the Cavaliers. They’re coming off a loss at home against Houston on Saturday in which they went 2-for-9 from deep despite being a really good 3-point-shooting team. That’s going to turn around against a Miami team that I think is getting a little too much praise right now. Yes, the Hurricanes are 11-1 and are one of the best scoring teams in the country, but their strength of schedule is just 226th. I think Virginia will control this game and cover on the road.
My pick: Virginia -4
This is going to be a great Big East matchup tonight between Seton Hall and Xavier. The Musketeers come into this game with one of the best offenses in the country. They can score in bunches, are extremely efficient, and love shooting the 3. In their most recent win over Georgetown, Xavier shot 53.8% from deep, hitting 14 3s in the process. There aren't too many teams that are going to be able to slow them down this season, but Seton Hall is one of them. The Pirates' success has come because of their defense. They're only allowing 61.5 points per game and are great at guarding the perimeter. They rank 20th in opponents' 3-point percentage, which is going to be key tonight in slowing down the Musketeers.
My pick: Seton Hall +8.5
Baylor should be able to handle Northwestern State with ease, which is exactly why they're 25.5-point favorites. When I see a heavy favorite, I often look toward an under because of the blowout potential. Blowouts are great for the under because it usually means that one team isn't scoring much and I think that will be the case tonight for the Demons. They're only shooting 41% from the field on the season and they're going up against a Baylor defense that is allowing opponents just 68.0 points per game. However, that number has been even better over their last two games as the Bears' opponents have failed to crack 60 points. Unless Baylor puts up a 100-piece, I think this game stays under 155.5. Plus, our BetQL model likes the under too (⭐⭐⭐⭐ bet).
My pick: Northwest State at Baylor Under 155.5
