Burdge: What I'm Betting on Wednesday, Feb. 1

Here are three of the bets that I love in the NBA, college basketball and NHL tonight.

NBA: Celtics -8.5 vs. Nets (-110, DraftKings)

The Celtics have been a little off their game lately and the Nets have been covering, but this seems like a great bounce-back spot for the Celtics tonight. They’re at home, while the Nets will still be without Kevin Durant. And the Celtics beat the Nets, 109-98, in Brooklyn earlier this month, so I think they can pick it back up tonight and cover this spread.

Providence +140 (Caesars) at Xavier

Providence is on a three-game winning streak and has won 12 of the last 14 while Xavier is coming off a 17-point loss at Creighton, so Providence has more momentum heading into this game. Plus, a BetQL trend in favor of Providence on the moneyline here is that Ed Cooley is 77-36 after two straight games giving up nine or fewer offensive rebounds while coaching Providence. So I think Providence has a great chance to upset Xavier and get the win here tonight. 

Hurricanes ML at Sabres (-155, BetMGM)

The Hurricanes have back-to-back games and I am going back-to-back betting on them. This time I'm going with the moneyline, as they are now on six-game winning streak and the Sabres are only 11-14 at home this season. The Sabres have also lost four of their last six at home while the Hurricanes are 16-9 on the road. So I like the Hurricanes to keep it going and get the win over the Sabres here.
