Nuggets at Heat: Game 4 Best Bets

The Miami Heat are facing a challenging uphill battle right now. How many times could we have used that exact statement over the last two months with this team? Miami has done the unthinkable and continued to shock the sports world with each upset victory they have pulled off. The question is, after an ugly loss in NBA Finals Game 3 to put them in a 2-1 hole, do they have another “W” that can be pulled out of their back pocket?

The Heat are a 3.5-point underdog at home for Friday night’s Game 4 matchup with Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets. The total for Game 4 is currently set at 210.5, with the moneyline odds being +140 for Miami and -165 for Denver.

Best ATS Bet: Lean with Miami Heat +3.5

Notice the “lean” I put in the line above. This is not a strong play of mine, but I will be playing a small unit on Miami with the points for Game 4. Here is why:

I simply cannot bet against this Heat team, especially in the spot that they currently find themselves. The two-man game of Jokic and Jamal Murray that was on full display in Game 3 certainly can be described as “alarming” for any Heat fans and bettors. That is also nothing new, something we have seen all year long. Murray has elevated his game in the postseason, dropping a 30-point triple-double in Game 3, making Murray and Jokic the first ever teammates to both record 30-point triple-doubles in league history.

Responding to all of the cold hard facts that tip the scales to Denver with “Heat Culture” may seem like a head-scratching argument in favor of betting Miami with the points, but that’s what I am leaning on for Game 4. The Heat have found ways to win, and with their backs up against a wall in a must-win spot at home, I will bet on Jimmy Butler and the “Heat Culture” to do enough to cover this small 3.5-point number.

Best Player Prop Bet: Jimmy Butler u27.5 points

Now at the surface, you may be confused as to why I am betting the under on Butler's points scored alongside grabbing the Heat +3.5, but hear me out.  In the last seven playoff wins for the Heat, Butler went over 27.5 points only twice. As the Heat have gotten deeper into this year’s postseason play, the team’s success has come when Butler is efficient, playing a strong overall game, led by the Miami defense. If the Heat want to position themselves to get a win, the “other guys” are going to have to step up and help out Jimmy with some offensive production. Take the under 27.5 points for Butler.

Random Intriguing Player Prop: Jamal Murray to Record a Triple-Double, +1450

Can he do it in CONSECUTIVE games? Certainly unlikely, but we just witnessed Murray record a triple-double in Game 3. This could be something fun to take a flier on for Game 4 for a small price, let’s say a quarter of a unit out of our bankroll.
