Thursday’s NBA slate offers plenty of value for player props, and we’ve zeroed in on two standout plays. With Anthony Davis sidelined, LeBron James is in line for a monster night against the Wizards’ porous defense, while Collin Sexton continues his remarkable streak of clearing his points + assists line. Let’s break down the best NBA player props to target for January 30.
LeBron James Over 45.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists vs. Wizards (-110, DraftKings)
With Anthony Davis out tonight, I’m going right to LeBron James with my first pick. In three games without AD this year, James has averaged 35.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 7.3 assists with 39 points, seven rebounds and six assists against the Grizzlies in November, 38 points, three boards and eight dimes against the Blazers in early January and 29 points, seven rebounds and eight helpers in the middle of the month against the Nets. You can’t find a better matchup than this one against Washington; the Wizards own the NBA’s worst Defensive Rating (118.4), including the third-worst Defensive Rating at home (117.7). On the season, James is averaging 9.0 assists on 16.3 potential assists along with 7.6 rebounds on 11.5 rebounding chances and he will presumably eat some of the 5.3 potential assists and 19.4 rebounding chances that Davis averages, thus setting King James up for a huge game in DC.
Collin Sexton Over 22.5 Points + Assists vs. Timberwolves (-120, DraftKings)
This bet has hit 17 of 18 times dating back to last month! In that span, Sexton has scored 20-plus points 13 times and dropped 30 twice, including last time out against the Warriors. During the insane run, he fell below four assists just twice and has the proven ability to go over this number in points alone, as I noted above. While it’s important to note that his teammates are slowly trickling back into the rotation after dealing with injuries, Sexton hasn’t played less than 26 minutes during the streak and has received 30-plus minutes of playing time eight times in 12 January games. He’s also been aggressive, as his 16.3 shots (5.3 three-point shots) attempted this month indicate.
Amen Thompson Over 31.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists vs. Grizzlies (-106, FanDuel)
It’s Thompson’s 22nd birthday and he took the next level in the month of January, averaging 18.5 points on 12.2 shots per game, along with 10.9 rebounds (15.5 rebounding chances) and 4.3 assists (8.0 potential assists) in 38.6 minutes per contest. He’s gone over this mark in seven of his 11 January starts and I am happy to back him tonight in what should be a tight, high-scoring affair.
