Grizzlies at Pelicans Preview

The New Orleans Pelicans (7-6 SU, 6-7 ATS, 8-5 O/U) host the Memphis Grizzlies (9-5 SU, 5-7-2 ATS, 6-7-1 O/U) in the first half of tonight’s TNT doubleheader. New Orleans opened as a two-point favorite and the total opened at a hefty 230 points.

This matchup features plenty of star power, as Ja Morant will look to put on a show for the Grizz and Brandon Ingram and CJ McCollum will be suiting up for the home team.

Zion Williamson is questionable due to a right foot/ankle sprain and this is the front end of a back-to-back for the Pels, so it wouldn’t be shocking if he was held out for a bit of extra rest. Jaren Jackson Jr. will be making his season debut for the Grizzlies, but Desmond Bane is doubtful while Ziaire Williams and Danny Green remain out.

Under Taylor Jenkins, the Grizzlies have gone 25-9 ATS coming off a road loss by 10 or more points. The Pelicans have gone just 2-5 ATS in their last seven games.

My Lean: Memphis ATS. The Grizzlies have rebounded after double-digit point losses under Coach Jenkins and I expect that to happen again in this one, especially since I expect Zion to sit.

Knicks at Jazz Preview

The Utah Jazz (10-5 SU, 10-4-1 ATS, 7-8 O/U) host the New York Knicks (6-7 SU, 5-7-1 ATS, 7-5-1 O/U) tonight and Utah opened as a two-point favorite. The total opened at a healthy 230.5 points, which suggests that both offenses should thrive.

Utah has surpassed all expectations so far and ranks 5th in Offensive Rating as Lauri Markkanen has taken his game to a new level. Since the Knicks own the league’s 24th-ranked Defensive Rating and just gave up 145 points to the Thunder, the Jazz will be looking to put up a ton of points in front of their home fans tonight. Utah has allowed a league-worst 56.9 points in the paint per game this year, so New York’s potential to convert high-percentage looks around the rim is pretty high as well.

The Jazz will be playing at full strength and Knicks center Mitchell Robinson is questionable.

Under rookie head coach Will Hardy, the Jazz has gone 8-0 ATS in the first half when playing six or more games in 10 games. It’s also worth knowing that under Tom Thibodeau, the Knicks have gone 8-1 SU (107.8% ROI) directly after scoring 130 points (New York just put up 135 in a 10-point loss to the Thunder last time out). BetQL has hit 57.92% of Knicks bets all-time.

My Lean: Give me the over. Utah bleeds points around the rim and the Knicks just gave up 145 to the Thunder.

Nets at Kings Preview

The Sacramento Kings (6-6 SU, 9-3 ATS, 5-6-1 O/U) host the Brooklyn Nets (6-8 SU, 6-8 ATS, 5-9 O/U) in the second half of tonight’s TNT doubleheader. The Kings opened as a two-point favorite and the total opened at 224 points.

The Kings rank 2nd in the NBA in field goal percentage (48.4%), so Brooklyn’s defense will be put to the test against a solid offensive team (6th in Offensive Rating). The Nets rank 1st in the NBA in blocks per game (7.5) and are a slightly above-average defensive team (13th in Defensive Rating). This is the side of the floor I’ll be watching and ultimately what should decide the game.

The Kings will be playing at full strength while Brooklyn is dealing with a number of injuries and absences. Kyrie Irving (team suspension) remains out, as does T.J. Warren (injury). Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, Nicolas Claxton and Yuta Watanabe are all questionable.

Kings coach Mike Brown has gone 64-35 ATS after successfully covering the spread in three or more consecutive games in his career. Sacramento has won three consecutive games outright and has covered four straight times.

My Lean: Kings ATS. At 9-3 ATS, I’ve been a fan of how Sacramento has performed so far this year and definitely don’t trust the Nets.
