Massive news shook the NBA overnight with the Nets trading Kevin Durant to the Suns, which is why tonight's betting theme is going to be fading teams that engaged in trades within the last 48 hours. Check out which games I think you should target as well as which lines our BetQL model likes!
One trend to note is that the BetQL NBA Model has been crushing O/U bets, going 51-36 (59%) on all total picks in the last 14 days for a total return of $1,036 on $100 bets! Giannis Antetokounmpo and LeBron James meet tonight when the Los Angeles Lakers (25-30 SU, 24-28-3 ATS, 31-23 O/U) host the Milwaukee Bucks (37-7 SU, 29-22-3 ATS, 27-27 O/U).
Is LeBron James going to play with the same amount of urgency tonight after breaking the all-time scoring record on Tuesday? Yeah, maybe, because it’s LeBron, but I also think we could see a bit of a hangover effect from The King. Couple that with the fact that Russell Westbrook was just traded and won’t be on the floor to manage the Lakers' second unit. Also, what’s up with Anthony Davis? Is there beef between him and LeBron after he didn’t cheer when LeBron broke the record? I have a lot of questions about what this Lakers team might look like tonight. I don’t have any questions about what we’ll get from the Bucks, so I’ll lay the points with them on the road.
My Pick: Bucks -6
After trading away Kevin Durant in the middle of the night, the Brooklyn Nets (32-22 SU, 28-25-1 ATS, 25-28 O/U) must now turn their attention to the Chicago Bulls (26-28 SU, 29-24-1 ATS, 24-29 O/U).
The Bulls are on my “do-not-bet” list, but I’m going to make an exception tonight because they’re going up against a Nets team that just traded away their two best players over the last three days. Losing Kyrie Irving is one thing, but losing Kevin Durant is a whole other thing. I think that deflates Brooklyn in the short term before it gets Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and Mikal Bridges in uniform. The Bulls get the win on the road tonight.
My Pick: Bulls ML
The Phoenix Suns (30-26 SU, 29-26-1 ATS, 24-31 O/U) are on the road taking on the Atlanta Hawks (27-28 SU, 23-31-1 ATS, 30-25 O/U).
The Suns are going to be extremely thin tonight with Mikal Bridges and Cam Johnson traded away and Devin Booker out for injury management. Not to mention Cam Payne and Landry Shamet are still sidelined with injuries. Phoenix will still have Chris Paul and Deandre Ayton available tonight, but against a fully healthy Hawks team, I'm not sure that's going to be enough. The Suns got throttled by the Hawks at the start of the month, losing by 32 on their home floor. A revenge game on the road just doesn't seem doable with everything the organization is dealing with right now. If you want to bet on the Suns, I'd look to Ayton's props because he should be able to dominate Atlanta's frontcourt. Other than that, I think this is going to be a bit of a throwaway game for Phoenix while its gets ready to welcome Kevin Durant to town.
My pick: Hawks -7
