NBA Futures: Longest Regular Season Win Streak Pick

This team strung together a 16-game win streak last season

With the NBA season starting soon, now is the time to get all of your futures bets placed. With the volume of possible bets, from win totals to awards and player stats, the market can be a little overwhelming. That's why I've done the work for you in scoping out a few plays that I think provide quite a bit of value if placed before the season.

The longest regular season win streak by any team is something that I've never bet in the past. I don't know if it's a new bet that DraftKings is offering this year, or if I've just never seen it posted, but it's something I plan on betting this season. The line is set at 13.5 wins and is slightly juiced to the over at -130.

Scroll down to see how I will be playing this and which individual team's win streak I'm going to look to target as well.

Longest Regular Season Win Streak By Any Team O13.5

Winning 14 straight games in the NBA is no easy task. Since 2018 only eight teams have put together a streak of that magnitude. If we narrow that down to the last two seasons, only two teams have surpassed the 13.5 mark that DraftKings has listed for this season.

During the 2021-22 season, the Phoenix Suns strung together 18 straight wins from October 30th to December 2nd. That was the 10th longest same-season winning streak in NBA history. Phoenix also had another 11-game win streak that season, which was the year's second longest, tied with the Memphis Grizzlies.

Last season, 2022-23, the Milwaukee Bucks put together 16 straight wins. They didn't lose a single game in the entire month of February, winning by an average of 13.0 points during that stretch. Brooklyn was the next closest team with a 12-game streak and once again, the Grizzlies weren't far behind with 11 straight wins.

Despite it being difficult to win that many games in a row, my money would have to be on the over. The league is extremely top-heavy this season with a number of teams loaded with superstar talent. If you look at the makeup of those Suns and Bucks teams that won 14+ games, there are a few different rosters that currently resemble those squads.

In no particular order, the Celtics, Bucks, Suns and Nuggets are in the top four of my power rankings heading into the season. If healthy, any of these teams have the talent to win a ton of games, but they also have the experience, veteran leadership, and coaching - with the exception of first-year head coach Adrian Griffin - needed to sustain a long win streak. In the last two seasons, there have been 15 streaks of nine wins or more, and those four teams are responsible for nine of those.

My money is on one of those teams to surpass 13.5 wins this year. And hey, every season there is always a team that surprises us, so one of the league's 26 other teams could certainly get the job done.

Bucks Longest Regular Season Winning Streak Over 8.5 (-135, DraftKings)

If there is one team that I like to go over their individual regular season win streak, it's the Milwaukee Bucks. Their line is set at 8.5 straight wins, which is very doable with the roster they have and their early season schedule.

With Damian Lillard being traded to the Bucks, the duo of him and Giannis Antetokounmpo is going to be deadly. Slowing down one of them is a daunting tasks for opposing defenses, but stopping both of them is going to be nearly impossible. I anticipate that team having one of the highest scoring averages in the league this season and that will lead to plenty of wins.

Another reason I like the Bucks to go over this number is because they have one of the league's easiest schedules this year. Also noted by NBA.com, Milwaukee will travel the fourth-fewest miles of any team, meaning less jet lag and fewer time zone changes. Those are aspects that we don't always consider as fans, but definitely play a role into a team's success, especially in some of those tougher schedule spots.
