Karpuc: My Favorite Bet On Tuesday’s NBA Slate

This bet is standing out to me for many reasons

Previous Picks (4-0)

☑️ Monday: Bucks-Hornets Under 237.5

☑️ Last Friday: Raptors -11.5 vs. Jazz

☑️ Last Thursday: Pistons-Grizzlies Under 220

☑️ Last Wednesday: Hornets -9.5 vs. Pistons

The Pick: Grizzlies +100 ML vs. Warriors

The Grizzlies have won nine consecutive games outright and have covered the spread in eight of them, including each of the last six. The Warriors have gone 2-4 ATS in their last six games overall and will be without Draymond Green and potentially without Gary Payton Jr. and Otto Porter Jr., two other members of their rotation.

Most of Golden State’s offensive production will run through Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins, a formidable trio, but as a whole, this Grizzlies team has been clicking over the last few weeks. In fact, over the last 10 games, Memphis has outscored their opponents by an average of 10.6 points per game, the best mark in the entire NBA.

Per NBA.com, the Grizzlies own the 3rd-best Offensive Rating (116.9) and 4th-best Defensive Rating (106.1) in that span, which shows how dominant they’ve been on both ends of the floor. As a whole, their 10.8 Net Rating is tops in the league in that span.

Since returning from a mid-season injury, Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant has performed at an MVP caliber level, averaging 27.0 points, 6.1 rebounds and 6.2 assists in 31.8 minutes per game. In that span, he shot 51.4% from the field and 43.8% from three-point range, both of which are elite marks. As a nightly highlight reel, he will be looking to upstage Curry and Thompson on the national NBA TV broadcast.

With both Curry and Thompson on the floor, the obvious concern is limiting three-point shooting. Especially if the Warriors are shorthanded, both Splash Brothers can realistically take 15 three-point attempts in this situation. Luckily, Memphis has cracked down on defending the deep ball recently; over their last five games, they’ve allowed opponents to shoot just 30.5% from three (2nd in the NBA in that span). They also have the athleticism and size to switch on the perimeter, which will be required.

Overall, I think the Grizzlies will keep rolling in this matchup.
