As the 2024-2025 NBA season tips off, the race for the championship is heating up, with fans and bettors alike eagerly analyzing the odds. With superstars shifting teams, fresh talent entering the league, and last season's results still fresh in our minds, predicting the next champion is as thrilling as ever.

Per BetMGM, the 2024-2025 NBA championship odds favor the Boston Celtics as the top contender at +310. The Oklahoma City Thunder follow with strong odds at +750, while the Philadelphia 76ers and Denver Nuggets are close behind at +800 and +850, respectively. The New York Knicks round out the top five at +900. The Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves are both listed at +1100, indicating solid chances. The Milwaukee Bucks are a bit further down at +1400, with the Los Angeles Lakers (+3000) and Phoenix Suns (+3500) considered long shots for the title.

Boston went 16-3 in the playoffs with a dominant +8.6 Net Rating after going 64-18 with a +11.7 Net Rating in the regular season last year. Heading into the new season, the core of Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Jrue Holiday, Derrick White, Kristaps Porzingis, Al Horford, Payton Pritchard and Sam Hauser will all be back while role players like Luke Kornet, Xavier Tillman Sr., Neemias Queta and Jordan Walsh will also return.

In the draft, Brad Stevens added Creighton star Baylor Scheierman, who I think will emerge as a legitimate contributor on the second unit and as of right now, there’s no team in the league that can stack up against this team (if healthy).
