Expert Picks, Predictions To Win 2023 NBA Title

As we come out of the NBA All-Star break, it's a great time to start looking at some NBA futures, including odds to win the NBA title.

The Boston Celtics are the consensus favorites to win it all after coming up just short against the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals last season. They're followed by the Phoenix Suns, who made a massive move at the trade deadline to land Kevin Durant. The Milwaukee Bucks and Giannis Antetokounmpo have the third-shortest consensus odds, followed by the Denver Nuggets and reigning two-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic.

With so much talent atop the odds board, it's tough to pick a winner, but our experts have made their predictions on who will win the 2022-23 NBA title below.

Lucy Burdge: Celtics +325, Caesars

The Celtics were on a roll heading into the All-Star break, and can hopefully carry that momentum into the second half of the season. If they continue the way they started, there is no stopping them. The Celtics are in first place in the Eastern Conference with a 42-17 overall record, including 25-12 in the conference. There’s something special about this Celtics team and its cohesion despite losing head coach Ime Udoka before the season. Now that they’ve taken the interim tag off of Joe Mazzula and made him the official head coach (and he’s kicked his gum-chewing habit), this team could propel through the playoffs to win it all.

Even as the favorites, there's still decent value on the Celtics to win it all at +325 at Caesars. This could even be your risk-free first bet (get your stake back up to $1,250 even if the Celtics don't win the title) at Caesars using the welcome offer below!

Brad Pinkerton: Warriors +1900, FanDuel

The Suns were my preseason pick to win the NBA title at +1000 odds, which is looking pretty good after the addition of Durant. Now I'm looking at another incredible value play as a hedge in the West: Warriors +1900. I cannot believe people are still sleeping on the Warriors after four titles for Steve Kerr and this core group. Injuries have held this team back all season, but if everyone (mainly Steph Curry) is healthy for the postseason, as expected, this will ultimately look like theft getting the Warriors +1900 at FanDuel once they start rolling through the playoffs. This could even be your No Sweat First Bet (up to $1,000) using the FanDuel signup offer below!

Kate Constable: Denver Nuggets +800, PointsBet

Being able to grab the best team in the Western Conference at +800 is great value. The Nuggets are five games ahead of the Grizzlies in second place, which means they should easily be the No. 1 seed in the West come playoff time. The Nuggets have been unstoppable at home this season and have the best player in the league on their roster in Nikola Jokic. Phoenix will likely be the biggest challenge in the West, but I’m not sold on the Suns automatically making it to the Finals just because they have Durant. KD is still out with an injury and it’s going to take the team some time to get used to playing together. If Denver can get past Phoenix, it has all the tools needed to match up against the Celtics or Bucks out of the East.

Dan Karpuc: Warriors +1900, FanDuel

Once Steph Curry returns, the core of this Warriors team will be intact and I don’t care one bit about their seeding in the Western Conference. I view the West as a jumbled group of talented squads with no true “frontrunner.” Along with Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, Andrew Wiggins, Jordan Poole and Kevon Looney are all going to be key pieces of their postseason roster once again. Gary Payton II should be back in time for the playoffs and others have emerged as key role players, including Donte DiVincenzo, Jonathan Kuminga, Anthony Lamb, Ty Jerome and Moses Moody. You can make the argument that this team is deeper than last year’s championship squad and at this price, I’m going to take a shot. Don’t forget that this core hoisted the Larry O’Brien Trophy last year and while they may not be a “sexy” choice, they’re a logical one.
