MLB Pick: Houston Astros vs. Kansas City Royals

The Houston Astros are considerable favorites against the Kansas City Royals, but the BetQL Model suggests backing the American West leader at -170. The Model makes the Astros -227 favorites with their ace Zack Greinke (11-3, 3.51 ERA) on the mound.

The Royals offense has been towards the bottom of the majors all season, and it hasn't gotten better in August, posting a 76 wRC+, which is the fourth lowest in the league this month. The team is going to struggle against Greinke's changeup that has been filthy all year long, posting a pitch value of 11.1, elite status, per FanGraphs.

The Royals will counter with second year pro Brady Singer (3-8, 5.42 ERA). Singer has struggled this season, mainly with his control, walking nearly four batters per nine innings this season. The Astros are 11th in the bigs in walk rate, but are last in strikeout percentage. Jose Altuve and co. are sure to make Singer work to generate outs by putting the ball in play.

The Astros are favored, but this line is still selling them short on Wednesday night.
