According to BetMGM, the Philadelphia Phillies have +600 odds to win the World Series, +280 odds to win the National League, and -400 odds to win the NL East. Despite these strong odds, the Phillies face a setback as star catcher J.T. Realmuto has been placed on the 10-day injured list as of Tuesday. He is expected to miss about a month following surgery to remove cartilage from his right knee, scheduled for Wednesday. Manager Rob Thomson noted that the upcoming All-Star break from July 15-18 may reduce the number of games Realmuto will miss and he’s expected to be out for about a month overall.

Realmuto has been battling knee soreness throughout the season but has remained a reliable presence behind the plate for the Phillies. He has a .261 batting average with seven home runs and 20 RBIs in 51 games played this season.

In his absence, the Phillies have recalled 25-year-old catcher Rafael Marchan from Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Garrett Stubbs, who started at catcher for Tuesday night's game and went 1-for-4, will share catching duties with Marchan moving forward, according to Thomson. Marchan had a brief Major League stint with the Phillies earlier this season but did not appear in a game. This season, he has hit .233 with two homers and eight RBIs in 13 minor league games.

Realmuto's injury adds to the Phillies' growing list of sidelined players, which includes two-time All-Star shortstop Trea Turner and outfielder Brandon Marsh, both out with hamstring injuries.

The Phillies, currently leading the NL East with a 46-20 record, hold a 10-game lead over the second-place Atlanta Braves. After Tuesday's 4-1 victory over the Boston Red Sox, they trail the New York Yankees by just half a game in the Major League standings.
