Today’s Best NHL Game Prop Bets

A couple of player props and a home Panthers victory headline the best prop bets from Wednesday’s NHL action. NHL betting has ample variety and countless appealing nightly opportunities, including props for every game. Here are the best prop bets for Wednesday, Oct. 19.

Panthers to win and Over 6.5 goals (+135)

Philadelphia Flyers vs. Florida Panthers, 7:30 p.m. ET

Wednesday’s encounter between the Panthers and Flyers at the FLA Live Arena has the home team as outrageous -357 favorites.

Even though they’re 3-0, the odds are heavily stacked against the Flyers, who won 3-2 in Tampa Bay on Tuesday. Carter Hart stole the show in Tampa, saving 36 of 38 shots and only conceding two powerplay goals.

As the Flyers play on consecutive evenings, John Tortorella will most likely give Hart the night off, one of several reasons to back the Panthers and over 6.5 combined goals.

With a 3-13 record, the Flyers were dreadful in the second of back-to-back games during the 2021-22 season.

They lost all four against Atlantic Division teams and finished with a horrendous 3-9 record in the same scenario against teams playing on a day’s rest.

In addition, the Panthers won all three contests between the teams, outsourcing the Flyers 12-6. Two of those three contests occurred in Florida.

This will be the Panthers’ home opener, adding to the improbability of a Flyers victory. Florida lost to Boston in their last game and should be focused on securing a valuable first win at home.

Felix Sandstrom should get the nod in goal for the visitors, while the Panthers should turn to Sergei Bobrovsky, who didn’t have his best stuff in Boston. However, Bobrovsky was 14-1-1 versus the Metropolitan Division and had a 26-3 home record in 2021-22.

Nathan MacKinnon to score over 1.5 points (+140)

Winnipeg Jets vs. Colorado Avalanche, 8:00 p.m. ET

Nathan MacKinnon kicked off the 2022-23 campaign just as he left in 2021-22. The Avs’ superstar has seven points in three games, including three against the Wild on Oct. 17.

The Avs were prolific at home last season and should continue to see their high-powered offensive machine produce the goods.

MacKinnon scored nine points against the Jets in the first three contests between the teams during the 2021-22 season, including a five-point outburst at home in the first encounter.

He scored two goals the second time the Jets invaded Colorado, a good omen going into Wednesday’s game.

The Avs scored 14 goals in their first three games, including five against the Blackhawks in their only home contest thus far.

Vladimir Tarasenko to score over .5 points (-143)

St. Louis Blues vs. Seattle Kraken, 8:00 p.m. ET

The Blues will play only their second game of the season when the puck drops in Seattle Wednesday. Coming off a 5-2 victory over the Blue Jackets in their season opener, the Blues are well-rested and set for their first road test.

Conversely, this will be the Kraken’s  their fifth game in a week to start the season. That’s an inordinately heavy workload just a week into the campaign.

Tarasenko should take advantage of a fatigued Kraken team and score at least one point. The Blues’ sniper scored two goals in the season-opening victory over the Blue Jackets.

In addition, the 1-2-1 Kraken allowed 16 goals in their first four encounters, including 10 in their previous two.
