Today’s Best NHL Game Prop Bets

Three prop bets take center stage for Tuesday’s NHL action, featuring the Senators’ home opener and the Kings and Canucks playing the second of back-to-back away encounters. NHL betting has ample variety and countless appealing nightly opportunities, including props for every game. Here are the best prop bets for Tuesday, Oct. 18.

Senators to win and under 6.5 goals (+220)

Boston Bruins vs. Ottawa Senators, 7:00 p.m. ET

The Ottawa Senators host the Boston Bruins on Tuesday evening. The Bruins played at home on Monday night against the Panthers and should have considerably heavier legs than the Sens, who’ve enjoyed two days off.

The Bruins were 5-6 in the second of back-to-back games last season, while the Sens enjoyed a sterling 5-1 mark against the opposition playing in the second of back-to-back encounters.

With a 16-29 record, the Sens struggled mightily after two days’ rest between contests. Ottawa also endured a miserable spell against the Bruins, losing three of four head-to-head matchups.
However, this Sens team is markedly improved.

In addition, the fact it’s Ottawa’s home opener should galvanize D.J. Smith’s team. Three of last season’s four head-to-head contests between Ottawa and Boston had five goals, while the other had two.

Predators to win and under 6.5 goals (+170)

Los Angeles Kings vs. Nashville Predators, 9:30 p.m. ET

In a roller-coaster affair, the Kings blew three one-goal leads in Detroit before defeating the Red Wings 5-4 in overtime on Monday. The Kings have won two consecutive road games by a 12-10 margin.

Jonathan Quick started against the Red Wings, so Cal Petersen should get the nod in goal. The Kings were 0-2 in the second of back-to-back games against Central Division opponents last season.

The Predators were dominated by Dallas in back-to-back games and will be looking for a rebound performance on home ice, especially after stinking up the building against the Stars in their home opener.

Nashville won two of three against Los Angeles last season and took the only contest played at Bridgestone Arena.

Last season, the Predators enjoyed a 4-1 record on two days’ rest against teams playing in the second of back-to-back encounters.

It’s about time the Kings weren’t involved in a high-scoring affair, so expect Nashville to beat the weary Kings in a game that sees under 6.5 goals.

Blue Jackets to win and over 4.5 goals (+125)

Vancouver Canucks vs. Columbus Blue Jackets, 8:00 p.m. ET

Both winless teams are desperate for a victory when the Canucks visit the Blue Jackets.

Vancouver coughed up multiple-goal leads in each of its first three losses. The Canucks were up 4-2 in Washington  Monday night, only to allow four third-period goals in a 6-4 defeat.

Even worse for the Canucks is their history in the second of back-to-back games. The Canucks were a woeful 3-10 in the second of back-to-back games last season and 1-3 when the opposition had two days off.

After two days’ rest, Columbus had a mediocre 4-3 record last season against teams playing in the second game on consecutive nights.

Columbus’ rest, combined with Vancouver playing its third game in four nights, offers enough evidence to support a home victory.
