Today’s Best NHL Game Prop Bets

Three prop bets take center stage for Monday’s NHL action, featuring three undefeated teams, a winless side, and a team that has allowed 10 goals in two contests. NHL betting has ample variety and countless appealing nightly opportunities, including props for every game. Here are the best prop bets for Monday, Oct. 17

Florida Panthers vs. Boston Bruins, 7:00 p.m. ET

Panthers to win and under 6.5 goals (+260)

Two 2-0 teams square off in Boston on Monday night, with the Bruins hosting the Panthers. The Bruins won both home encounters last season, beating Florida 3-2 in October and 4-2 in April.

The Bruins got off to an explosive start offensively, scoring five goals in Washington against the Caps and six at home versus the Coyotes.

Meanwhile, Florida has won both games on the road, 3-1 over the Islanders and 4-3 against the Sabres.

Spencer Knight got the win between the pipes against the Sabres, so expect Sergei Bobrovsky to get the nod in Boston.

The Panthers are a markedly better defensive team than both the Caps and Sabres, while the Bruins had the fourth-best defense (2.66 goals against per game) last season, which should translate to a lower-scoring game than Boston’s previous encounters.

Florida won its first eight games last season, and it appears they’re off to another scorcher to kick off the 2022-23 campaign. With Bobrovsky between the pipes, look for the Panthers to win a third straight on the road.

Vancouver Canucks vs. Washington Capitals, 7 p.m. ET

Capitals to score first and in the first period (+110)

The Canucks lost their first two games this year after going up early in both. The first encounter at Edmonton saw them jump out to a three-goal lead.

In Philadelphia, they went up two goals before conceding three straight in the 3-2 loss. Conversely, Washington has allowed the first goal in their opening three games.

Peter Laviolette will focus on finding a way to start the game on the front foot, especially at home. The Caps should up the ante, tempo, and pace in the opening stanza and score the opening goal for the first time this season.

The Canucks play their third of five straight on the road and, after consecutive shutout first periods, are due to allow the first goal.

Los Angeles Kings vs. Detroit Red Wings, 8:00 p.m. ET

Kings to win and under 6.5 goals (+230)

The Kings travel to Detroit on the back of a pulsating, gunslinging 7-6 win in Minnesota. After enduring a bitterly disappointing 4-1 loss at home to the Kraken, who were heavy underdogs, the Kings exploded for four first-period goals against the Wild.

Detroit is 2-0 after beating Montreal and New Jersey on consecutive nights to start their campaign.

While the Red Wings have significantly improved their lineup, it’s hard to conceive of them getting off to a 3-0 start.

It will also be the Red Wings’ third game in four nights, which bodes well for the visiting Kings. Jonathan Quick was rested in Minnesota and should get the nod, while Ville Husso will be raring to go after having the night off in New Jersey.

Husso secured a shutout in his opening start with Detroit against the Habs, saving 29 shots.

Quick will be in the market for a redemptive performance after allowing three on 21 shots against the Kraken in the Kings’ opener.

In addition, the Kings have conceded 10 goals in two games and will want to shore up things defensively before giving head coach Todd McLellan inordinately high blood pressure less than a week into the season.
