The Nashville Predators are a team that I have been looking to fade this season, and it appears this is another opportunity to do so. I was shocked when they had such a good season last year, but now they seem to be falling back to where they should be. They are a very average team, but maybe the worst part about them is the amount of offensive pressure they allow. The Preds are letting up 33 shots on net per game, and that has not helped out star goaltender Juuse Saros, who is getting peppered all game long most nights. He's good, but he can't stop everything, and his numbers are down because of that.

The Kraken are the exact opposite. They have improved in almost every way, and are playing very good on the defensive side of the ice. Seattle lets up about 28 shots per game, which is one of the better marks in hockey. They are doing well offensively as well, taking 31 shots and scoring over three goals per contest. I think Seattle could be a team to watch going down the stretch as one of those surprise teams that could end up making the playoffs, especially if they continue to play like this.

PICK: Take the Kraken here to get the job done at home. Like I mentioned, I'm always looking to fade Nashville.

Another late night game to get us going. The Minnesota Wild have been very disappointing this season after having such a memorable 2021. A lot of this early failure can be attributed to terrible goaltending, but they have started to play somewhat better recently. The defense is allowing 31 shots per game, which is down from the atrocious 36 they were allowing early on. We may be starting to see the Wild start to turn things around a bit, and they certainly have the talent to do so. They have a good offense that just needs some goaltending to kick things into high gear.

The Kings have had much of the same problem this season, awful goaltending that has brought down what is otherwise a pretty decent team. They are allowing almost four goals per game, which is not a way to win. It isn't like they are playing atrocious defense either, allowing 31 shots per contest. The offense has been great, scoring over three goals per game and taking 33 shots on opposing netminders. If LA can figure out their goaltending situation, I think this team can certainly make the playoffs again from what I have seen.

PICK: This is a tough one because these teams are very evenly matched. There isn't a clear favorite, and both teams are -110 on the ML. I'll take the home team here in that case.

One of the most surprising teams for me this season has been the Vegas Golden Knights, who just keep winning hockey games despite a rather tumultuous offseason. Vegas is ripping 34 shots on net per game, and scoring close to four goals a game in the process. This offense is legit, but that wasn't what I was worried about coming into the season. Goaltending is what I feared, and I was dead wrong. The Golden Knights have found a superstar in Logan Thompson, a young player with a ton of upside. They may have actually found two because backup netminder Adin Hill has been nearly as good. So what happens when starter Robin Lehner comes back?

Toronto has been somewhat disappointing again, but that seems to be the usual with this team. The offense should be far better than they are, but are scoring under three goals per game. That's unacceptable for a team with the amount of talent they posses on the offensive side of the puck. The defense has actually done their job, unlike in years past, and is allowing just 28 shots per night while allowing under three goals per game. If they could just find a way to start getting pucks in the back of nets more often, this could be the best team in hockey.

PICK: The Knights are getting plus money, and they have only lost twice this season. While I think this is a very close matchup, I'll take the team that offers more value.
