This game will be part of the NHL Global Series, which means it will be played outside of the USA or Canada. The Columbus Blue Jackets and Colorado Avalanche will meet up in Tampere, Finland, for this special matchup. Although, I'm not sure how special it is going to be. The Blue Jackets have really struggled this season so far, sitting at just 3-7-0 on the young season, and there has been plenty of reasons for that. For starters, they don't score goals, which is something you need to do in order to win games. Columbus averages under three goals per game, while taking a very pedestrian 30 shots per game. They also have poor goaltending, allowing over four goals per contest. They just stink, quite frankly.

The Avalanche actually haven't been much better. The defending champs are having a tough go of things to begin the year. It hasn't been bad, per se, but it has been painfully average for a team that is as talented as Colorado. They average 31 shots per game and three goals, which are about NHL average. Defensively, they allow 33 shots to their opponents and three goals per game, which is slightly worse than NHL average. With a 4-4-1 record, they are what their record and stats say they are: average.

PICK: Well, average is better than terrible, isn't it? Neither team has been impressive so far, but I have more faith in Colorado to bounce out of this slump than I do Columbus. Give me the Avs.

Now this is a great game that will be very exciting to watch Friday night, when the Sabres take on the Hurricanes. Both of these teams have had awesome starts to their seasons. Carolina will be in the second game of a back-to-back, so keep that in mind. It may not matter with how good they are on both ends of the rink. Carolina takes 36 shots per game, which is one of the highest totals in the league, but they only average three goals per contest. Once those shots start going in, it's takeoff time. Perhaps their biggest strength has been defense, where they allow under three goals per game and just 26 shots as well. This is one of the best teams in hockey in the early going, hands down.

Buffalo has been the darling of the league to this point, a young team that is overperfomlng much to the delight of their fans. It has been years and years since we have seen a Sabres team be good, and it seems that they will have at least a competitive team for the first time in a while. Buffalo has been scoring goals at an insane rate, over four per game, while also taking 33 shots on average. They have improved defensively from a bad start, now allowing 32 shots per contest and just under three goals. This is a team that needs to be taken seriously, as they are lethal on the offensive end.

PICK: A great game where either team could take it. I think the Hurricanes are better, but I think Buffalo takes this one. Carolina just played yesterday, and their penalty kill hasn't been that great this season, stopping just 79% of chances. I think Buffalo could take advantage of that and some tired legs.
