We start the week off yesterday on another positive note with the Maple Leafs crushing the Sabres and covering -1.5 at a nice +145 price. Unfortunately, the Capitals couldn't beat the Red Wings at home, so that dropped us a unit. Still, that's a profit of .45 units yesterday, and it's all about staying in the green.

Blackhawks at Stars Prediction

Rivalry Wednesday starts off with a pretty one-sided matchup when the Chicago Blackhawks travel to take on the Dallas Stars. Chicago just played last night against a very good Las Vegas team and actually won, which was surprising in itself. It also means the Hawks should have some tired legs, which could really benefit the fresh Stars at home. The Blackhawks are terrible, allowing 3.59 goals per game and a whopping 33.6 shots on average. They are scoring just 2.46 goals per game and taking just 27.0 shots.

The Stars aren't a spectacular team, and I think they have some flaws that could hurt them come playoff time, but they are still far better than Chicago. They are scoring 3.19 goals per game and allowing only 2.54. They are outshooting opponents 32.0 to 31.2 on average. However, Dallas has lost four straight games coming into this one.

MY PICK: Stars -2.5. Even the -1.5 is juiced at -145, so we are going with the -2.5 here at +110 at FanDuel. The Blackhawks on a back-to-back is almost an auto-fade, and the Stars are already the far better team. They have lost four straight, and this is the perfect spot for them to get back in the win column in a big way.

Flames at Coyotes Prediction

The Calgary Flames will travel to Arizona to take on the Coyotes, and there is no doubt that the Flames are the far better team. They are scoring 3.12 goals per game and allowing 3.04, while also massively outshooting their opponents 35.4 to 27.3. They should be far better than their record indicates, as that is one of the best shot differentials in the entire NHL.

The Coyotes are awful, which is no secret. They are scoring 2.67 goals per game while allowing 3.44, and also getting dominated in shots, allowing 35.2 against compared to 25.9 for. However, this team has been far better at home than they have been on the road.

MY PICK: Flames -1.5. This is probably a bad decision because the Coyotes have been fantastic at home against teams with a winning record, but it is hard to pass up this number. We are getting +120 odds here at multiple sportsbooks right now on the Flames to win by at least two. That shouldn't be hard to do here for the Flames, as they are far and away better than Arizona on paper. It is scary with how well the Coyotes have played against good teams at home, but getting plus-money on such a mismatch is hard to pass up.
