Blue Jackets at Sabres Prediction

The ESPN+ game of the night features two teams that I am pretty low on right now. The Columbus Blue Jackets will be traveling to take on the Buffalo Sabres. Columbus has been terrible all season, so it isn't like this is anything new. They are scoring just 2.47 goals per game while allowing 3.67, while also getting outshot by their opponents 29.2 to 34.9. They are perhaps the worst team in hockey, but to their credit, their numbers have actually gotten better lately. They have closed the gap on their goal and shot differential. Columbus managed to beat the Oilers and Stars recently in two massive upsets.

Sometimes Buffalo looks great, sometimes it looks disastrous. The Sabres have won four of their last five games, despite being outshot in them. That's the hockey luck factor, which is a real thing. The Sabres are scoring 3.78 goals per game while allowing 3.48, but are getting outshot on average 32.3 to 32.9. It's safe to say this is a team that is involved in a lot of high-scoring affairs.

MY PICK: Blue Jackets ML (+180, Bet365). No chance I'm laying -220 with the Sabres, but I'm also not comfortable laying goals in this situation because Buffalo allows too many goals and shots. Instead, I'll take a shot at a massive number on the Blue Jackets to win this game. No one wants to take them, and while they are awful, I just don't think the Sabres deserve to be favored this much. Kraken at Blues Prediction

Let's head to Missouri for our last game of the night, where the St. Louis Blues will look to defend their ice against the Seattle Kraken. I have been fading the Blues for pretty much the entire season, and I will continue to do so. St. Louis is scoring 3.00 goals per game while allowing 3.63, and is being outshot on average, 28.9 to 32.5 by opponents. In short, the Blues stink. They have lost five straight games, and deservingly so.

The Kraken I've been high on this season due to their fantastic defense and solid offense. Seattle is scoring 3.44 goals per game and allowing 3.15, while also outshooting opponents, 29.9 to 27.9. That shots allowed number is one of the best in the NHL, with only a couple teams better on defense.

MY PICK: Kraken -1.5 (+165, DraftKings). I hate the Blues, but I am not willing to lay a -150 number to take the Kraken on the ML. Instead, I'll take a shot on the puck line at very good plus-money on DraftKings (with a very good welcome offer, too). The Kraken have a good enough defense where I feel confident they can hold off the Blues if they get up by two.
