NHL Odds, Predictions For Feb. 23

Another day in the green yesterday, if only by a small amount, but making a profit is always the No. 1 goal no matter how small. We lost taking the Stars -2.5 yesterday, as they lost outright as massive favorites to the suddenly unstoppable Blackhawks. The good news is that we won on the Flames -1.5 against the Coyotes for +1.20 units. Subtracting the unit we lost on Dallas, we were up .2 units yesterday, which puts us up .65 units so far this week. Not every week can be like last week when we were up over six units.

BetQL and I will have you covered for the second half of the season, and you had better believe that we are going to sniff out some value every single one of those days!

Flames at Golden Knights Prediction

We'll start things off in Las Vegas, where the Calgary Flames will visit to take on the Golden Knights. Calgary is on a back-to-back after we won betting them to destroy the Coyotes last night, but as I have said in the past, this is a team that I want to back in the second half. They are scoring 3.17 goals per game and allowing 3.03, while also outshooting their opponents by a massive 35.7 to 27.1 margin on average. That is one of the largest shot differentials in the league.

The Golden Knights are leading the Western conference right now, and for good reason. They are scoring 3.21 goals per game and allowing 2.77, while outshooting their opponents 32.7 to 30.2 per game. The Knights have won four of their last five games but had their winning streak snapped in their last contest against those red-hot Blackhawks.

MY PICK: Flames ML. We are getting +118 odds right now at Caesar's on Calgary to win this game, and I think that is good value. Both teams are very good, in my opinion, but the Golden Knights have had much more luck this year. When you look at the shot differential of the Flames, it's astounding their record isn't better than it is. I believe positive progression is in their future.

Rangers at Red Wings Prediction

Maybe I'm crazy to keep doing this, but I trust my system that has won us so much money this season on the ice. I think the Red Wings are one of the most overrated teams in the NHL. Detroit is one of just a couple of teams that have a winning record despite having a negative goal and shot differential. The Red Wings are scoring 3.09 goals per game and allowing 3.16, while also getting outshot on average 30.9 to 28.8 by their opponents.

The Rangers showed everyone that they are going for it when they traded for Vladimir Tarasenko, and with talks heating up about possibly getting superstar Patrick Kane from the Blackhawks, they could be all-in. They have good reason to do so as well. The Rangers are scoring 3.32 goals per game and allowing just 2.70, while also outshooting their opponents 32.4 to 29.3 on average each night.

MY PICK: Rangers -1.5. The ML is a bit juicy to me at -165, so I'll take the great value here on the Rangers to win by 2+ at +158 odds at Caesars right now. The Red Wings are frauds, and there is nothing you can tell me to make me think otherwise. New York is the far better team, and I think that will show here tonight.
