This Insane Stat Proves Trey Lance Is Rightful 49ers Starter

Check out this stat and what the BetQL Model projects for the 49ers' win total this season

It's no secret the 49ers are all-in on Trey Lance as their starting quarterback this season over Jimmy Garoppolo. And a fascinating stat has come to light that proves San Francisco made the right decision.

Football analyst Warren Sharp tweeted this stat recently that would have Garoppolo in the dust if this was still a heated quarterback competition.

On attempts of 30 or more air yards in the preseason, regular or postseason by 49ers quarterbacks since last year, Lance has three completions on 117 attempts, while Garoppolo has just one on 457 attempts. And those three completions by Lance were an 80-yard touchdown in the 2021 preseason, a 45-yard touchdown in Week 17, and a 76-yard touchdown this preseason. That's pretty, pretty good.

The BetQL Model agrees that this could be a big year for the 49ers with Lance at the helm. The Model is projecting the 49ers will win 9.8 games this season to go over their win total of 9.5. If you want to get in on the over, you can get that at -145 at FanDuel, while the under is at +125.

Look out for Lance to live up to all the hype around him heading into this season, especially if the 49ers move Garoppolo.
