Ken Barkley: Don’t Walk, Run to Bet Chase Young for NFL Defensive Player of the Year

Yesterday, Nick Kostos and Ken Barkley discussed the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award on You Better You Bet. Ken had a strong take on which player to sprinkle some money on for the award, which you can check out here:

Barkley on Chase Young for DPOY

Don't walk, but run to bet Chase Young for DPOY at 12-1 on BetRivers. That is a crazy price on him. There are some books at which he is currently at +350. Everyone has bet him, so his price has come down in many places. I've seen a lot of 6s and some 8s, and I've seen a lot of depressed prices that I can't bet into because they are way lower than that.

He can absolutely win. He needs to be sort of in that JJ Watt mode in order for him to win. Usually you don't win until you are like 30 and make multiple All-Pro teams. But, he can be that good. It's really you just have to accumulate that type of sack total, how JJ Watt had 20 sacks that year he won Defensive Player of the Year. I think Chase Young can do that, and I think he is that special. Chase Young is probably the most special player in his position this generation.

Isaiah Wynn is largely thought to be one of the best, young ascending Left Tackle in the NFL. Well, Chase Young made him look like a back of the bench scrub in that Patriots-WFT game. He blew by him and sacked Cam Newton in like a second. I think he is going to have an insane season, so he was the first guy I mentioned for DPOY a couple of weeks ago.
