Dallas Cowboys Preview

The Dallas Cowboys continue to win even without quarterback Dak Prescott. They just extended their undefeated streak to four games with a 22-10 victory against the Los Angeles Rams on the road in Week 5. It was a painful loss for yours truly, who had the Rams-5 in the game, but Dallas proved me wrong. There is still no assurance that Prescott will play in Week 6, but the Cowboys probably are not too worried about his status for now. There is something in Dallas that is working even though it’s Cooper Rush who is handling the rock under center temporarily. Rush is still the inferior quarterback between him and Prescott, but it can’t be denied that Dallas is undefeated with him this season starting.

Dallas committing to running the ball more while Prescott is out could be the formula that’s been delivering success to the team, with Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard leading the way. In the Rams game, they combined for 164 rushing yards with the latter scored a touchdown. Rush didn't do much of anything, with barely over 100 yards passing, but he hasn't needed to do anything special.

The defense is the talk of the town, and they are even chattering about defensive coordinator Dan Quinn getting a second chance at a head coaching position, which I would absolutely love. The guy was a money printing machine when he was with Atlanta, always fading him as a favorite. I'll give him credit, he does know how to run a defense. He's done a remarkable job with Dallas in his time with them, and he was also the man in charge of the infamous "Legion of Boom" in Seattle almost 10 years ago.

A trend for you: The Cowboys are 10-1 against the spread in their last 11 road games.

Philadelphia Eagles Preview

Will Dallas be the first team to take down the Eagles? Philadelphia just pulled off a 20-17 win against the Arizona Cardinals on the road last Sunday to keep them undefeated on the season so far. You know what happened the last time the Eagles started 5-0 in a season, don't you? They won a Super Bowl. The Eagles are relishing in the improvement of QB Jalen Hurts as a more well-rounded quarterback and not just a runner. Though, in their win against the Cardinals, he rushed for 61 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries. He can do it all right now, and his play has catapulted Philadelphia to the top of the NFL.

As a team, the Eagles are still a run-heavy football club, but with guys like DeVonta Smith and AJ Brown stretching the field, opposing teams can’t relax on Philly’s ability to throw the ball deep.

The turnaround we have seen under head coach Nick Sirianni is really quite the spectacle to behold. This team was a mess at the end of the Doug Pederson era, which was really shocking in the first place considering they had just won a Super Bowl just two years beforehand. He came in and fixed everything almost immediately, and had the birds contending for the playoffs in his first season as head coach.

Philadelphia’s defense is also top 10 both against the pass and run. They have been rock solid since Week 1, when they allowed 35 points and a billion yards to the Detroit Lions. I think pride set in after that, and now they have one of the NFL's best units. The Eagles are 4-1-1 against the spread in their last six home games, so they have been covering in Philadelphia as of late.

My Prediction

I don't know who I want to take on the spread line, but if I had to, I would probably take Philly -6. This streak has GOT to come to an end for Cooper Rush at some point. My best bet is the under 42 with these two spectacular defenses playing in the game. I think Philadelphia will have a harder time than normal scoring here, and I think Dallas finally gets a wakeup call that it's time for Prescott to return.

Give me the Under 42 in the game.
