Nick Chubb Stands Out

On a recent episode of BetMGM Tonight, BetQL Network hosts Trysta Krick and Nick Ashooh discussed whether there is any value in fading the huge favorite for the Comeback Player of the Year award, which is currently QB Aaron Rodgers of the New York Jets at +250.

“Nick Chubb has gone from 20-1 to 15-1 in today alone. Just today. That's massive line movement,” exclaimed Krick. "And if you look at the Cleveland Browns and what they're going to do and what we kind of imagine is going to be their offensive flow, they live and die by their offensive line. And let's be real, I don't have any faith in Deshaun Watson to do a damn thing."

Watson is currently 15-1 in the market, but Krick thinks RB Nick Chubb is the better value at that number than his QB. "If the offensive line is still good, which it's been for many years now, and if Nick Chubb gets 300 carries as he did before his injury the year before, and has, I don't know, 35 to 40 catches in that season, I think the award is his, even though it normally goes to a quarterback."

Cross Off Watson and Fields

Ashooh took a different approach to the market by eliminating some guys that he didn't think had a chance to win the award. "Deshaun Watson right off the bat. I'll be with you there. You and I both feel the same way about Deshaun Watson. We've seen the best of Deshaun Watson. We've watched him now multiple seasons in Cleveland, looks like a shell of himself. And if you want to talk about Aaron Rodgers not getting votes, Deshaun Watson's definitely not going to get votes from people because of what's happened off the field with him. So immediately, I'm scratching Deshaun Watson off of there." said Ashooh.

He also talked about the complexities of the futures market and voting for NFL awards in general.

"There's a lot of different voters that are going to feel very... you know, very differently about this. And I think that that's what just kind of makes it, you know, it's like Justin Fields is on here at 35 to 1. I mean, Justin Fields is not even going to start, but it'd be interesting to see what his season looks like. Justin Fields and what he's coming back from, you know, like we, we have these, sometimes it's just based on a story."
