Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs New York Giants Prediction
In the days of my youth, I would always look forward to watching NFL games between the New York Giants & the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Why, you may ask? Simple; I thought it was cool to see twin brothers Tiki & Ronde Barber go head-to-head. Fast-forward to the year 2020 and the Barber bros. beloved football franchises are aggressively trending in opposite directions. Entering this week, Tampa Bay has played to a (5-2) record whereas NYG stands at (1-6): good for first & last in their respective divisions. I won’t lie to you, folks; the Bucs’ & Giants’ Monday night matchup this week offers very little, if not a few advantageous betting opportunities.
New York Giants Preview
For the New York Football Giants, not much has gone right in 2020 (and I’m sure many of us can relate to that). The Giants, who were initially thought to have been on the better side of a rebuild, have struggled in every game. Of course, losing their current icon player, the hyper-dynamic RB Saquon Barkley, has only made matters exponentially worse.
But let’s tell it how it is; NYG has issues all over the field. For starters (and perhaps most importantly), the Giants may employ the NFL’s worst offensive line. Porous every week, QB Daniel Jones has been sacked no less than 20 times: an issue that will impede even the most talented offense.
Speaking of Daniel Jones, he does have his moments of success, but appears inconsistent, overall. But with the helter-skelter going on offense, it tough to accurately assess his abilities. However, it helped not a single New Yorker when Jones took a recent, unassisted tumble to the turf on a sure-touchdown run. Oh, well.
Even more unfortunate for New York is the “G-men” are not really any better on defense. Now, more than ever, do they miss former defensive legends like Lawrence Taylor or Michael Strahan. The current Giants’ defense is surrendering nearly 25 points per game while their offense is only outputting 17.5 points per game. You don’t have to be a “number person” to realize that a formula like that can never result in any real success.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Preview
The Tampa Bay Bucs are currently rolling and they certainly seems to be improving each week. Coming into this season, the Buccaneers seemed to be one of the most complete football teams on paper. However, the first couple games for QB Tom Brady seemed a little out-of-sync and the Tampa defense appeared undisciplined. With that said, Brady & the Bucs have really turned it on in recent weeks, winning five of their last six games.
In last week’s showing, the Buccaneers handsomely beat a quality Raiders squad in Las Vegas. Brady’s arm look especially live, zipping passes to his cast of talented playmakers with ease. As if guys like WR Mike Evans, WR Chris Godwin, and RB Ronnie Jones weren’t enough, TE Rob Gronkowski is regaining his premiere form, as well. Also, it appears the Bucs have done what HC Bruce Arians said they would not and actually signed WR Antonio Brown, but he’ll not be eligible until week 9. Yes, the Tampa Bay offense is undoubtedly scary, but it is their defense that is truly made of nightmares.
Like their lone championship team in 2002, the Buccaneers are anchored on D. With a fast & furious front 7, the Bucs get after opposing QBs with unrivaled ferocity. Lead by their young & athletic LBs Lavonte David, Devin White, and Shaq Barrett, explosive veterans like DT Ndamukong Suh & DE Jason Pierre-Paul fit right in with the suffocating scheme. With a ballhawk like FS Antoine Winfield, Jr. covering everything on top, Tampa Bay sure looks poised to make a run for all the marbles.
Full Game Prediction
I don’t see this game being close. Brady & the Bucs will go in to MetLife Stadium and have their way with the Giants. Expect at least a 10-point victory for Tampa Bay, and if looking for a “First touchdown scorer” to yield a nice payout, maybe look the way of Tampa RB Leonard Fournette.
