USC at Stanford Prediction for Week 2

USC Trojans

The Trojans could finally be back to being on of the premier programs in college football under new head coach Lincoln Riley. It has been a while since we have seen them do much of anything, over 10 years even, but there is finally hope in Southern Cal. The skill parts are tremendous for this team, and the talent level is through the roof with the influx of all the transfer portal players coming in with Riley. He's a massive upgrade at coach compared to anything else USC could have gotten, and it just might put them back on the map.

Not only is Riley going to improve an offense that was decent, but former Oklahoma defensive coordinator Alex Grinch should work wonders with improving a flawed Trojan defense that will need help on that side of the ball.

The Cardinal defense is completely starting over, there wasn’t any semblance of a pass rush with this team, and the offense has to prove it can consistently get things moving against a good team. This isn't Colgate anymore, fellas.

Stanford Cardinal

Stanford is a program that is much like where USC was before this new revolution they are embarking on. The Cardinal for many years were one of the best teams in the Pac-12, with many standout players and a team that was tough to beat for anyone. Now, that has fallen by the wayside, and this is nothing more than a shell of a team it used to be.

Sure, they beat Colgate 41-10, but that was Colgate. The step-up in talent here that they will be facing might be the biggest in college football this season. As I mentioned previously, the defense is completely new this year after everyone moved on to either the NFL or other ventures. The game against Colgate was a nice tune-up to get them ready for this one, but I have my doubts they will be ready for what is in store for them.

Even at home, this will be an extremely difficult task for the Cardinal to undertake.

USC at Stanford Lean

If you couldn't already tell, I feel like Stanford is going to be boat-raced here. They just have too many new parts on defense, and the offense for USC is loaded with massive amounts of talent that put up 66 points last week against Rice. Stanford will do their best to keep up against a somewhat questionable Trojan defense at this point, but the effort will be futile.

You wanted the show in So-Cal? You will get the show. I'll take USC -8.5 here and feel pretty good about it.
