Texas A&M Aggies

This season has so far been quite the struggle for head coach Jimbo Fisher and his now unranked Texas A&M Aggies. The Aggies came into the 2022 season as the sixth-ranked team in the nation, but a loss at home to Appalachian State in Week 2 put their season in jeopardy before it even began. They would bounce back with a big win over then No. 13 Miami Hurricanes and a win over No. 10 Arkansas, but a loss in Week 5 to unranked Mississippi State put their season on ice.

That doesn't mean they won't do their best to replicate last season's thrilling upset victory over the Crimson Tide. We all know the history between Fisher and Alabama head coach Nick Saban. They hate each other, on and off the field. Saban claims Fisher paid every one of his recruits to play for A&M, and that is why the Aggies have the No. 1 recruiting class in the country. Fisher shot back by saying Saban is a narcissist that whines when he doesn't get his way, and that he isn't the coaching god he's perceived to be.

The Aggies looked dreadful against the Bulldogs last week, but maybe that was a look-ahead spot where they were too focused on Alabama and it cost them. You can be sure that Fisher circled his calendar for this date.

No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide

The sky is blue, the grass is green, and Alabama is ranked No. 1 at some point every college football season. What else is new? After the previous No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs had serious issues against Kent State and Missouri, the Crimson Tide are back on top of the football world. QB Bryce Young and co. have pretty much destroyed everyone they have encountered so far outside of a close game with Texas looking to right the wrong of last season's National Championship loss to Georgia.

The bad news for them this week is that their reigning Heisman-winning QB may not be available for this game against a very angry Texas A&M team and their coach. The second-year starter went down with an injury in the Tide's 49-26 win over Arkansas last weekend. Without Young, we don't know if the team will be able to play at the same level.

Still, if we know anything about Alabama, it's that their backups are better than most starters in college football. They will obviously take a small step back with Young's injury, but I don't expect it to be critical.

My Prediction

With Alabama possibly losing their starting QB for this game, it is hard to handicap them going into this game. The Aggies looked absolutely horrendous against Mississippi State last week, which has bettors pounding Alabama regardless of who's under center. This spread is massive, sitting at -24 for the Crimson Tide.

However, Jimbo Fisher always has his team ready for Nick Saban regardless of the situation. I truly believe they were looking towards this game and that is why they played so poorly last week against the Bulldogs.

At +24 or better, I'll take a shot with the Aggies.
