BetQL Rating: ★★★ (Ohio +160)

  • Pittsburgh is coming off a disappointing 30-14 home loss to Virginia.

  • Dating back to last season, Ohio is 7-1 over its last 8 games.

  • Ohio opened the season with a 41-20 win vs Rhode Island.

Ohio

The Bobcats will be bringing returning star quarterback Nathan Rourke to Pittsburgh as Frank Solich’s bunch aims for an upset. Rourke picked up where he left off last season, as the dual threat quarterback threw for two touchdowns and added another rushing as the Bobcats cruised to a 41-20 win vs Rhode Island in their opener. The Bobcats totaled 466 yards and that number could have been higher as their two turnovers were a result of a lost fumble and an interception from backup quarterback Joe Mischler. The Bobcats have won seven of eight including their bowl game last season as they head into this matchup with Pitt. The Bobcats have been dominant over that span as well, recording seven of those victories by at least three touchdowns.

Pittsburgh

Year five under head coach Pat Narduzzi may prove to be a make or break year. Narduzzi has yet to win a bowl game and has lost seven games each of the last two seasons. Last week’s home opener vs conference foe Virginia did not bode well for an improved 2019. While competitive in the first half, the Panthers squandered a 14-13 lead at the break and were proceeded to be outscored 17-0 in the second half. Returning quarterback Kenny Pickett showed inconsistencies that popped up all last season as the junior quarterback only went 21-41 for 185 yards and two interceptions. In total, the Panthers were out-gained 310 to 263 in total yards. While the Panthers again feature a stout defense under the defensive-oriented Narduzzi, they will have to get the ball moving on Saturday. In order to fend off the electric quarterback on the other side in Rourke, Pickett will have to provide an answer.
