CFP Title Game: Top 3 Georgia Trends To Know

See what stands out for the Bulldogs vs. Alabama

Alabama vs. Georgia: ATS Trend

Georgia is a team that always seems to be right there at the end, but always fails to come up clutch when they need to the most. The big games always seem to elude them, and Kirby Smart's team needs to do a better job of preparing for these games. Here they are again with an opportunity to win a national title, and they are even favored by three points against the vaunted Alabama Crimson Tide, but I think most people sense what might happen here. However, there are some trends that say Georgia could reverse their fortunes and capture that elusive victory.

Kirby Smart is 18-5 ATS after having won five or six out of the last seven games while coaching Georgia.

We know that Smart is one of the premier coaches in college football, and he has won a ton of games with the Bulldogs over the years. When he's been on a heater like his team has been this year, he does a great job covering the line.

Straight Up

The Bulldogs have had a fantastic season this year, and nobody can take that away from them. Getting to the title game is not easy, and they have had to beat some tough opponents this year to get there. In the college football semifinal game against the Michigan Wolverines, they showed up and showed out on their way to a dominating, 34-11, win over the No. 2 team in the country. They have done this to plenty of teams all year, but last time they played Alabama, they got crushed, 41-24, in the SEC championship game. The final score doesn't indicate how bad they got whipped by the Crimson Tide.

BetQL has a ⭐⭐⭐ trend on the Bulldogs to win this game. Kirby Smart is 24-5 SU after a win by 17 or more points while coaching Georgia.

Smart is usually very good off of blowout wins, and the Georgia moneyline is just -145 right now. His teams usually carry momentum into their next games, especially defensively. It remains to be seen whether or not they can get over the hump that is Alabama, but if history is any indication, they should play well enough to win.

First-Half ATS

Georgia usually has been a team that starts off slowly on offense, but they win a ton of first halves thanks to their incredible defense. Against Michigan, they had everything going for them, and the Wolverines were powerless to stop them. The Bulldogs marched out to a commanding 27-3 lead at the half, and they never looked back. Now they will look to get the early momentum against their hated rival. The halftime spread is just -0.5, so they have to be leading by any amount at the half. Smart has been money in this scenario.

Kirby Smart is 29-13 against the first-half spread after a win by 17 or more points while coaching Georgia.

We already talked about how Smart's teams carry momentum with them into their next game really well, but it seems like they also come out firing on all cylinders after a dominating win. It's obviously concerning that these two played just a couple of weeks ago and Alabama was up 24-17 at the half, but Georgia did play its best ball in that first half of the game. They were just terrible in the second half.
