Auburn Tigers

This is not the same Tigers program that has been a perennial contender in the SEC for a while now. Bryan Harson remains on the hot seat at Auburn, and he's going to have to start winning soon if he wants to keep his job as head man. The Tigers were ridiculed for their narrow 3-point win over Missouri just two weeks ago, and maybe that team is a little better than previously thought after nearly knocking off the number one team in the nation.

I think just about everyone in the country has wrote Auburn off and has come to the conclusion that Harson will be fired sooner rather than later, and that may be justifiable based off of how badly his team has struggled. There is one shining light here that may give him some hope, and that is freshman QB Robby Ashford. He made his first career start against LSU last week and almost managed to secure a victory.

Still, he could be the spark they needed to start playing better. No one expects them to beat Georgia at home, but making it a competitive game would go a long way towards helping the reputation of this team.

No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs

Georgia saw themselves drop down from their No. 1 position after two weeks where they have looked more than beatable against inferior competition like Kent State and Missouri. QB Stetson Bennett and his team traveled to Columbia to face a struggling Missouri squad as 31-point favorites but walked out with a narrow 26-22 victory over the Tigers.

Frankly, it has been weird watching this Bulldogs team so far on the year. They seem to play up or down to their competition, as Georgia has absolutely eviscerated their two "good" opponents in the form of a 49-3 destruction of Oregon on opening day and a 48-7 dismantling of South Carolina on the road a few weeks ago. However, they haven't even come close to covering their three games against "bad" opponents, and won by 33, 17, and 4-point margins as 53, 44.5, and 31-point favorites in those games, respectively.

It's hard to tell what we are going to get here from the Bulldogs. If they struggle again against a lesser team in Auburn, serious questions will start to rise.

My Prediction

Listen, I don't have any worries about Georgia. I still think they are the most complete team in the country and will win the SEC East. They will most likely be in the college football playoff as well. I just think this line of -29 is a little crazy here. What has Georgia shown us so far this season to get me to lay a number this massive? Auburn has looked far better ever since Ashford has stepped into the QB position. They moved the ball well against a fantastic LSU defense, but came up short when it mattered the most.

I think they can keep this within four touchdowns. I'll take the Tigers on the road +29.
