Rockets +118 (FanDuel) vs. Wizards

Starting things off in the NBA today, we'll head down south to Texas, where the Washington Wizards will take on the Houston Rockets. Neither one of these teams is particularly impressive, as both will probably miss the playoffs this year. They haven't played each other yet this year, but it will be the first of two matchups. Washington has won three straight games, while Houston has lost four of its last five -- so why is this line so short?

It's clear that some respected money is starting to come in on the Rockets here, as the line has moved from +3.5 to just +2 for Houston. This is the perfect spot to fade the Wizards on a three-game winning streak, on the road against a bad opponent in a let-down spot. There are several players that are listed on the injury report that will have huge implications for this game, but we usually don't know if they will play or not until minutes before tip-off. Make sure you confirm the status of each player before you lay your money down on an NBA game.

Texas A&M +170 (Caesars) at Auburn

Moving over to college basketball now, we have a great matchup here in the SEC between the Texas A&M Aggies and the Auburn Tigers. It was stunning to me how Auburn has gotten little to no attention this season, as the Tigers are 16-3 and have been ranked most of the season. You would think they would get more publicity, but if you look at some of the numbers, you can see why many believe they are a bit overrated. They don't really have any signature wins, and they lost a lot of talent after last season. They are very poor at shooting the 3, and they aren't very good at shooting overall. However, they are great at driving to the basket and rebounding. Texas A&M has a very physical and tough defense underneath, which will help them limit Auburn's scoring ability.

We have already seen this line get absolutely slammed for the Aggies, moving from +6.5 all the way down to +4.5. A massive amount of respected money is backing them in this matchup, and I don't blame the sharps. This is also a great bounce-back spot for Texas A&M coming off a loss to Kentucky. I'll take the points as well, but it is also worth a sprinkle on the moneyline at +170 because Texas A&M can certainly win this game.

Rangers +140 (BetMGM) at Maple Leafs

Let's head to the ice for our last underdog pick of the day, where the New York Rangers will be traveling north of the border to take on the Toronto Maple Leafs. This is probably the best game of the night, as these two Eastern Conference foes are both going to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and the battle here should be a good one. New York is allowing just 2.62 goals per game and scoring 3.17 per game. The Rangers are also outshooting opponents 32.7 to 29.3, so they do a great job of puck possession.

The Maple Leafs are also up there with the elite, scoring a whopping 3.40 goals per game and allowing just 2.60. In terms of shots on goal, they are getting 31.8 per game and allowing just 28.7. They have also won three of their last five games, but did suffer a bad loss against the Montreal Canadiens.

This is all about grabbing the value, which is what betting is all about. These are two good teams, and one of them is getting +140 instead of laying -160. Sure, Toronto is at home and maybe more likely to win, but it really wouldn't be shocking to see the Rangers win this game. I'll take the plus-money with the 'dog.
