Today's College Basketball Best Bets

There's more college basketball action today, which means even more tough decisions for bettors to go along with NBA, NFL, NHL and college football this week. To help you make the best bets today, the BetQL editors have picked a few of their favorite college basketball bets below using key trends, data and picks from the BetQL model.

One trend to note is that the BetQL model is crushing NCAAB spread bets, going 455-359 (56%) on all spread picks rated ⭐⭐ and higher in the past 30 days, for a total return of $5,465 on $100 bets! Dan Karpuc: North Texas at UT Arlington Under 114.5
The under has gone 9-3 (75%) in games involving these two teams this year and it’s clear why that’s the case. Per KenPom’s Adjusted Tempo rankings, North Texas plays at the second-slowest tempo out of 363 Division-I teams while UT Arlington ranks 248th. Not only that, but UT Arlington ranks 348th in Adjusted Offensive Efficiency. Overall, North Texas ranks 342nd in points scored per game (59.5) while UT Arlington ranks 360th (55.2). This game is going to be slow, it’s going to be ugly and the under is still the best bet despite the low total.

Kate Constable: Illinois at Texas Under 141.5

If you like defense, this is going to be a fun one to watch. Both of these teams pride themselves on playing tough, hard-nosed defense. Their rosters are built with strong, athletic players who can switch everything and guard multiple positions. Texas has the slight edge on the defensive side of the ball, ranking ninth in scoring defense and fifth in 3-point percentage defense. Guarding the perimeter is going to be key in this game for the Longhorns because Illinois is 19th in the country in 3-point attempts and have a top-50 offense. Offensively for Texas, they like to play fast. They use their defense to create chaos in the hopes of turning you over and getting out in the fast break. Illinois’ best chance at winning this game is to try and slow Texas down and make them play in the half court. If they’re able to do that successfully, that’s going to slow this game down a ton and buckets aren’t going to come quite as easily for the Longhorns. Not a bad sign for the under!

Lucy Burdge: Texas -2.5 vs. Illinois
Texas has covered in four of their last five games, while Illinois has failed to cover in three of their last four, so I think Texas has the momentum here. In his career, Chris Beard is 36-17 ATS after allowing 30 points or fewer in the first half in two straight games, and Illinois is just 4-15 ATS over the last two years versus teams who attempt at least 21 3-point shots per game. So I think Texas can cover the spread tonight.

Brad Pinkerton: Wisconsin -125 vs. Maryland

The Kohl Center is one of the toughest places to play in all of college basketball, so it shouldn't be surprising to see 6-2 Wisconsin favored at home even against undefeated Maryland. This could be a rude awakening for a Maryland team that has just one true road game so far -- and that was at Louisville, so does it really even count? For what it's worth, BetQL also likes the value on the Wisconsin moneyline here, and points out that Greg Gard while coaching the Badgers is 24-14 SU against teams allowing fewer than 64.0 points per game and 10-3 SU after two straight games with at least 10 3-pointers made. I like Wisconsin to hand Maryland its first loss tonight.
