Historically, Kansas has owned Baylor in this matchup. As the Bears' head coach, Scott Drew is just 7-27 against Kansas. However, Baylor comes into tonight’s game as the better team at this moment. It has the second-best adjusted offense, according to KenPom, and is shooting well from all areas of the floor. The Bears are the better offensive-rebounding team and get to the free-throw line often. That’s going to be huge against a Kansas team that is struggling to defend. The Jayhawks are also struggling to knock down shots and relying too heavily on Jalen Wilson to carry their offense. Six of the last nine meetings between these two teams have been decided by five points or fewer, so I expect this to be a close one and will lay the extra juice on the Bears moneyline.
Baylor has gone 1-2 SU (1-2 ATS) in its first three Big 12 home games, but is still favored against Kansas, which just got whacked by TCU at home after losing by one to Kansas State. This is tonight’s nationally televised ESPN game and I have to think Bill Self will get his team right before this game. After all, the last time Kansas had lost two straight games in their state had been 1989. Yes, 1989. The Jayhawks come in at ninth in KenPom’s all-encompassing rankings, while the Bears are 14th, but have the 93rd-ranked defense. Give me the Jayhawks to get back on track and earn the quality road win and cover. Jalen Wilson (21.3 points, 8.8 rebounds in 35.1 minutes) and Gradey Dick (14.4 points, 5.3 rebounds in 32.0 minutes) are a lot of fun to watch and both have the ability to take over games for the Jayhawks. Can’t wait to bet and watch this one.
Why are the 11-8 Hokies favorites against perennial powerhouse Duke (14-5)? Must be obvious to take the Blue Devils and the points, right? According to BetQL, the vast majority of the early money is on Virginia Tech to cover, moving the line in the Hokies' favor.
