My pick: UCLA -11.5
UCLA has been dominant at home this season where its 15-1 SU and has covered the spread in five of its last seven games at Pauley Pavilion. The Bruins are one of the best defensive teams in the country and excel on the boards on both offense and defense. They have the ability to generate second-chance points at a high level and are the best team in the conference at turning teams over, also resulting in extra possessions. Arizona State is coming off of two straight wins, but one of those was on a buzzer-beater, so I wonder if this is a little bit of a sell-high spot for the Sun Devils. This line has been moving down in favor of Arizona State, but I doubt it’s going to drop much lower than -11.5, so grab this number at BetMGM along with a great welcome offer below!
My pick: San Diego +5.5
Both of these teams are really bad, ranking in the bottom three in the West Coast Conference. Portland has lost its last four games and doesn’t deserve to be a 5.5-point favorite, despite San Diego also having lost its last five. The Pilots beat the Toreros twice this season, which is part of the reason I like San Diego. It’s hard to beat a team three straight times, especially when it has an offense that can get hot and put up a ton of points. Add in the fact that this is the opening round of the WCC tournament, and I think we get a highly motivated San Diego team capable of pulling off the upset.
My Picks: Minnesota team total u59.5; Rutgers -8.5
There are two ways that I would recommend attacking this game. The first is to take Minnesota's team total under 59.5. The Gophers have only gone over this number once in their last five home games and three of those games were against teams that rank in the bottom six of the conference defensively. Rutgers is the best defensive team in the Big Ten and has held its opponents to under this number in its last two road games.
The Scarlet Knights are also great at turning teams over, which isn't a good sign for a Minnesota team that already struggles to hang onto the ball. If Rutgers can keep the Gophers from going over their team total, that will more than likely mean a double-digit win for Steve Pikiell's team. With Minnesota only having won one conference game all season, I'd imagine it's ready for the season to be over, so if Rutgers gets a decent lead, the Gophers might just roll over.
