Alabama at Houston Prediction

This is a huge matchup between No. 8-ranked Alabama and top-ranked Houston. The Cougars come into the matchup with the best defense in the country, limiting opponents to just 47.3 points per game. They'll have their hands full, though, with Alabama freshman Brandon Miller, who has been quite a matchup problem for teams this season. The Tide can shoot from outside and also have the size and strength to compete with Houston on the boards. Offensively for Houston, Marcus Sasser leads the way, averaging nearly 17 points per game. The Tide will need to limit his ability to penetrate the lane if they want a chance to win on the road. Overall, Alabama is the more battle-tested team this season having already played three top-25 teams; they beat Michigan State and North Carolina in double overtime. Their only loss came to UConn, which isn't all that bad of a loss when you consider how dominant the Huskies have been so far. Houston's schedule has been fairly easy thus far, which is why I lean to the Tide covering as nearly double-digit underdogs.

My pick: Alabama +9

Kansas at Missouri Prediction

The undefeated Missouri Tigers welcome the defending national champion Kansas Jayhawks to town for a huge rivalry game. The Tigers are a perfect 9-0 to start the season, but they haven't been tested yet. According to KenPom, they have the third-easiest adjusted strength of schedule. That worries me when we're talking about going up against a Kansas team that has wins over Duke, N.C. State and Wisconsin, as well as a loss against a very good Tennessee team. While Missouri's offense has put up at least 80 in each game this season, the defense has been inconsistent. That's not something you want against Jalen Wilson and the Jayhawk's offense. Kansas will have their hands full coming into this atmosphere for their first true road game of the season, but I like the Jayhawks to get the job done.

My pick: Kansas -3.5

Arizona vs Indiana Prediction

The final big matchup of the day takes place in Las Vegas between No. 9 Arizona and No. 11 Indiana. The Hoosiers are 8-1 on the season and are coming off a big win over Nebraska in which Trayce Jackson-Davis posted a triple-double. The Wildcats have a nearly identical 7-1 record with their only loss coming to Utah in their first Pac-10 matchup. Both of these teams are very strong on the interior and are among the top-3 shooting teams in the country. Arizona ranks first shooting 55.2% from the field, while Indiana is third at 52.2%. Jackson-Davis leads the Hoosiers shooting 68.5% from the field. For the Wildcats, Azuolas Tubelis is shooting 61% and fellow big man Oumar Ballo is shooting a whopping 76.9% from the floor. These offenses have the potential to explode. Put them under the bright lights of Sin City and I expect both of these teams to show out.

My pick: Arizona at Indiana Over 158.5
