Northern Kentucky vs. Youngstown State Horizon League Semifinal Preview
My pick: Youngstown State -3
Northern Kentucky and Youngstown State meet tonight in the Horizon League semifinals and I like Youngstown State to win and cover -3. This is going to be a clash between the best offensive team in the conference in Youngstown State versus the best defensive team in Northern Kentucky. While the N. Kentucky Norse got the best of the Penguins early in the year, Youngstown State turned the ball over 24 times in that game and was still able to force overtime before losing by three. The next time they met, the Penguins won by 18. I’m not sure they’re going to win by that big of a margin again tonight, but their offense is going to be tough for Northern Kentucky to keep up with. The Penguins rank 44th in the country in offensive efficiency, according to KenPom, and are in the top 25 in effective field-goal percentage, 2-point percentage and free-throw percentage. If they get hot at any point in this game, it’s going to be an early tournament exit for the Norse.
Sacramento State vs. Weber State Big Sky Quarterfinal Preview
My pick: Sac State vs. Weber State u124.5
Weber State earned the No. 3 seed in the Big Sky Tournament and will take on the No. 6 seed Sacramento State this evening. Both of these teams play at a snail's pace and are totally content doing so. The Hornets rank 349th in the country in pace, while the Wildcats rank 299th. The two previous meetings have failed to top tonight’s total of 124 with the first one finishing with 98 total points and the second with 101. Neither team is going to wow you on the offensive end, yet Weber State’s defense is the second-best in the conference. Add in the fact that this is a tournament game with season-ending implications and I think we see both teams up the intensity on the defensive end.
#10 Gonzaga vs. San Francisco WCC Semifinal Preview
My pick: Gonzaga 1H -8
The Zags are an exceptional first-half team! They’ve led at the half by an average of 14.6 points over their last three games and were up by 20 on San Francisco at the break when these two teams met a month ago. However, in their first meeting this season back in January, the Dons gave the Zags quite the scare with a second-half comeback to only lose by two, which is why I think we see Gonzaga try and jump on them early and take them out of the game. Plus, the Dons have also already played two tournament games over the last three days, while this is Gonzaga’s first, so it’s coming into this one as the more rested team. Take the Zags to get off to a solid early start!

Dan Karpuc: #17 Saint Mary’s -3.5 1H vs. BYU (WCC semifinals). Saint Mary’s has gone 18-9 ATS as a favorite in the first half this season and has also gone the following versus the first-half line: 15-5 against teams that make eight or more 3s per game; 16-6 against teams that attempt 21 or more 3-point shots; and 12-4 versus teams that have forced 14 or fewer turnovers per game after the first 15 games on the schedule. Saint Mary’s is ranked No. 7 in KenPom’s overall efficiency rankings (fifth defensively) while BYU ranks 75th, so there’s enough of a gap there to make me feel comfortable. I’m not in love with their full-game line; I like this much more.
Matt Horner: Towson +4.5 vs. Charleston (CAA semifinals). The Tigers were my pick to come out of this conference, and I’ll ride with them here against the favorite in Charleston. We have already seen this line move from +6 to +4.5, so the money is clearly heading toward Towson. I think they can keep this close, if not win outright. Take the points with the Tigers.
NCAAB Sleeper Picks For Tonight
Dan Karpuc: San Francisco +565 vs. Gonzaga (WCC Semifinals): In two previous meetings between these two teams, San Francisco lost by two at home and then 18 on the road. In that two-point home loss, San Fran held a 10-point halftime lead (46-36) before falling apart in the second half; in the second meeting, the Dons outscored the Zags 41-39 in the second half and rebounded after Gonzaga couldn’t miss in the first half. San Francisco is going to have to score to keep up with the Bulldogs and they’ve scored 93, 80, 92, 88, 81, 94, 82 and 87 points in different games since New Year’s Day! Don’t bet a full unit on this, but it’s worth a shot at these odds.
