Iona vs Canisius (+12.5), Analysis

Friday schedules in college basketball are notoriously scant, which is why I lean so heavily (and predictably) on MAAC underdogs.

No conference in all of Division I sees regular chaos like the MAAC. Just last week, Quinnipiac (KP 133) lost to Mount St. Mary’s (KP 293). Nobody even broke a sweat.

I’ve been tracking some AM line movement in this game, with bettors taking Iona down to -12.5 from its market-opening position at -10.

That’s 2.5 extra points for a home dog in a conference that already sees lots of dog covers and outright upsets. With only 15 games scheduled for tonight, it’s hard to turn up your nose at that kind of extra value.

Iona vs Canisius Prediction:

Play: Canisius +12.5. Typical MAAC dog strategy here. Make sure you sprinkle on the Canisius moneyline at +475, too.

Siena vs Mount St. Marys (+3.5), Analysis:

This is another MAAC game, but I’m actually looking at the total here.

This number opened at 127 and is heading down despite the fact that three-quarters of the marketwide tickets are on the over.

Since I like betting unders on totals in the 120s anyway, I’m happy to highlight this game on my card.

Siena vs Mount St. Marys Prediction:

Play: Siena/MSM Under 126.5. The reverse line movement here is a classic indicator for a low-total under play.
