Underdog Betting Picks of the Day for Tuesday, December 10

When it comes to underdog picks, finding the hidden value is key, and today’s slate offers some prime opportunities. From college basketball to the NHL and NBA, these underdogs might just surprise you. Let’s take a closer look at the best underdog bets for today.

NCAAB - Arkansas (7-2) ML vs. Michigan (8-1): +160

This isn’t the most obvious college basketball line of the day, but it is close, and I love the Razorbacks to cover the +4.5 and probably get the win as well tonight at Madison Square Garden. Once again, we see the unranked team as just a very small underdog against a top-15 ranked team in the country, but bookmakers have done a pretty decent job to camouflage this one. The game is on a neutral court instead of being played in Arkansas, so they can give the Wolverines an extra possession or so.

This line is saying that if the game was in Arkansas, Michigan would be a favorite of under a possession. Seeing as how they are ranked No. 14 in the country and the Razorbacks are unranked, this would be an auto bet from the public on the Wolverines. Michigan is 8-1 and has won five straight games, including wins over Iowa, Wisconsin, and Xavier. Arkansas has won four of their last five, but they have failed to cover in four of their last five as well. People will see that as well, and think they can take it to the bank.

While this isn’t as blatantly obvious as Illinois is tonight against the Badgers, and I appreciate the oddsmakers trying to throw an invisibility cloak over this one, I still feel like this is a very good bet tonight. The +4.5 is safer and certainly a bet, but sprinkling the ML at +160 is also a must here. Woo Pig.

NHL - Utah Hockey Club (12-11-4) ML vs. Wild (18-5-4): +100

Utah is barely an underdog here, but they still are at most books and getting even money at home against the Minnesota Wild. Here is another game where the line just doesn’t make a ton of sense if you look at the record of the two teams, and I would be shocked if the Wild don’t get hammered tonight by the public at around -115 odds to win this game.

The Wild have been incredible this season, and have one the best records in the NHL thus far. Seeing as how they have $15 million in dead cap space right now, that is pretty remarkable. Kirill Kaprizov continues to show he is one of the best offensive talents in the NHL, and netminder Filip Gustavsson leads the league with a 1.99 GA/G and .931 SV%. They lost their last game to the Kings, so people will also be backing them in a bounce back game, which I think is a mistake.

The Hockey Club has gotten out to a decent start, but they still have more overall losses than wins. Netminder Karel Vejmelka has been great, with a 2.35 GA/G and .917 SV%, and they have won two straight games heading into this one. Again, people will want to fade them here because of that. This line just screams at me that oddsmakers are begging you to take the Wild with a price like this. I think Utah gets it done tonight at home.

NBA - Mavericks (16-8) ML vs. Thunder (18-5): +155

With Luka Doncic back in the fold, I think that significantly boosts the Mavs offense in every which way. Now, that might sound a bit obvious because he himself is such a fantastic offensive threat, but what I mean by this is that he boosts everyone else on Dallas as well as just being great himself.

For example, I expect Klay Thompson to go off tonight from deep, despite shooting just 1-for-8 from three the last time these two played. He has played far better with Luka on the court, and is averaging 3.1 threes per game on eight three-pointers attempted with Luka. With Chet Homgren out for the Thunder, they are not going to be able to have that kind of offensive force in the paint that he brings. Isaiah Hartenstein is a great rebounder, and he will eat up the glass tonight, but he isn’t the same skill level as Chet underneath.

I just feel like there is some good value on the Mavs at +155, and I think they are worth a sprinkle tonight on the moneyline.
