Klay Thompson Over 21.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists

Steve Kerr has been steadily ramping up Klay Thompson’s playing time over his first three games of the year (from 20 to 24 to 27 minutes), so I fully expect him to see close to his full allotment of minutes in this contest. BetQL is projecting him to score 17 points with four rebounds and four assists tonight (25 points + rebounds + assists) and he’s gotten over this 21.5 number in two of his three games despite his general lack of playing time. As seen numerous times in his career, Thompson can get over this number in points alone (in one quarter), so I like the idea of getting rebounds and assists into the tally for some extra safety.

Luguentz Dort Over 18.5 Points

Since both Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Josh Giddey will miss tonight’s game against the Clippers, a ton of offensive usage will be up for grabs; 56.0% to be exact. Luguentz Dort, who owns a 23.0% usage rate through three games, figures to be one of the beneficiaries from a volume perspective. He enters this contest averaging 14.3 points per game, but is coming off a 20-point showing in OKC’s loss to the Timberwolves last time out.

Using RotoGrinders’ free Court IQ tool, I can see that without SGA and Giddey on the floor last season, Dort had a team-high 28.2% usage rate over 176.3 minutes, so that adds another layer of confidence to this pick. If the Thunder keep this game close, it’ll likely be due to Dort’s production in the scoring column.

Ivica Zubac Over 10.5 Rebounds

I’m not in love with any team-specific or over/under bets tonight, so I’m hitting the player prop market. The Thunder have allowed 21.7 rebounds per game to opposing centers (the highest mark in the league) and Clippers center Ivica Zubac enters this game averaging 11.0 rebounds in 27.0 minutes over three contests. When he played his full allotment of minutes (35) in the season-opener against the Lakers, he pulled down 17 boards.

The young and rebuilding Thunder have shot just 42.2% from the field (third-worst in the NBA), so the Clippers center should have plenty of opportunities to pull down boards in this contest, especially with SGA and Giddey out. Keep in mind that Paul George will miss this game due to illness and he’s averaged 7.7 rebounds this year, so a few extra could also bounce Zubac’s way due to that as well.

Jonas Valanciunas Over 29.5 Points + Rebounds

With Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram both out tonight due to injuries, Jo-Val is going to be asked to eat up more offensive usage and will definitely have sky-high rebounding potential. He’s at -265 to record a double-double, which shows how highly the books view him tonight and rather than taking him over 17.5 points at a juiced up price, I’ll take his points and rebounds to eclipse 29.5.

CJ McCollum Over 34.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists

Like Valanciunas, McCollum is going to have to step up if the Pelicans keep this game close tonight. No Zion, Ingram or Herb Jones means McCollum is going to eat up a ton of usage and the entire New Orleans offense will run through him. This is a decent number and I'm a believer that he can impact the game across the box score after getting off to a hot start to the campaign.
