Mike Conley Over 6.5 Assists
Grizzlies point guard Mike Conley is in an amazing spot against the Rockets tonight. Houston has allowed 12.22 assists per game to opposing point guards and Conley has recorded eight, 11 and eight assists in his three games this season. The BetQL is projecting the veteran PG to log seven assists in this particular matchup, so that’s some extra validation.
Jabari Smith Over 6.5 Rebounds
With no Bruno Fernando and potentially no Alperen Sungun tonight, the Rockets will either turn to Usman Garuba, Boban Marjanovic or go small. Since the Jazz have allowed an NBA-worst 25.3 fast break points per game, I’m going to assume that Houston will go small to take advantage. That means rookie Jabari Smith could spend some time at the five, which boosts his rebounding potential. He pulled down 11 boards in 28 minutes last time out against the Bucks and has gone over 6.5 rebounds in two of three contests. At 6’11, Smith plays more of a traditional wing role typically, but he will have to make an impact on the glass in this one.
Zach LaVine Under 20.5 Points
Zach LaVine will get checked by reigning Defensive Player of the Year Marcus Smart quite a bit tonight which is very bad news for Chicago’s guard. In 147 individual defensive possessions over three games, Smart has held James Harden, Tobias Harris, Tyrese Maxey, PJ Tucker, Jimmy Butler, Tyler Herro, Kyle Lowry, Franz Wagner, Cole Anthony and Paolo Banchero to a combined 14 total points. Despite the fact that this Bulls offense is heavily concentrated around LaVine, DeMar DeRozan and Nikola Vucevic, Smart’s presence is enough to get me to bet under 20.5 points for LaVine. BetQL is projecting LaVine to score 17 points.
