Well, here we are. The NBA Finals are set with the Golden State Warriors hosting the Boston Celtics in Game 1 on Thursday night.

Experience is a huge factor in the playoffs, but it matters even more once you get to this point, and the Warriors' roster has the clear advantage having played collectively 123 NBA Finals games, while the Celtics have a grand total of zero together.

There's also the coaching side of things, with Steve Kerr having won eight rings as a player and coach, and Boston’s first-year coach Ime Udoka having only been to the Finals as an assistant.

There’s also the back-to-back seven-game series the Celtics have had to grind through, while the Warriors wrapped up the Mavs in five and get a week off before the Finals start.

That's something to keep in mind when you look at Game 1.

Boston may not have the advantage on the experience side of things, but they've been relatively consistent against the spread these playoffs, going 12-6 ATS overall, and never having back-to-back games where they either lost outright or failed to cover.

What matters even more though, has been what they've done there on the road, going 8-1 ATS away from home, and 6-1 ATS as a road dog in the playoffs.

Golden State is 9-7 ATS including a stretch where they failed to cover in five of seven games over the Denver and Memphis matchups, so keep that in mind. They still have gone 7-2 ATS at home and as a home favorite so far though.

The bigger difference in terms of trends between these teams though comes with the total, where Boston is 8-10 O/U during the playoffs, and the Warriors, who were one of the more consistent teams to hit the under during the regular season, have gone 10-6 to the over.

Given the stage, home court, and time off to rest though, I like the Warriors to cover in Game 1, setting the tone for what should be a really competitive series.
